Not sure if this is the right place to ask (mods feel free to move)

But I am looking to create an intro-video for youtube videos. I was searching around youtube and randomly stumbled across the video below (I know, I know, a fashion video of all things :pac:)

The concept is exactly what I had in mind. Short title logo, followed by an overlay that cuts to the video. Short & sweet :)

Can anyone give me tips on how to create such an intro?
this is done with after-effects, right?

What software do you use for editing right now?

I would use Motion and Final Cut for that, but thats because I already own the software, After Effects would also be able to do this.

Some sample templates which you can purchase for motion available here:
    http://www.motionvfx.com/store.html

As for tutorials, http://www.larryjordan.biz has some nice free ones, but sometimes they are a bit too basic but I would recommend them.
I would also recommend Lynda.com for their tutorials although not free. They have some good Motion/FCPX and After Effetcs tutorials

It can be done in After Effects among other programs.

If you have after effects then your going to want to spend many hours going through http://www.videocopilot.net/. They have some tutorials that will cover titles much more complicated. In the process of learning the tutorials on that website you'll learn how to make simple titles like in the video you posted.

Also, if you have After Effects, check out VideoHive for AE templates that you can customise yourself really easily. They often come with tutorial videos too. If you don't have AE you could buy a template you like and post the job on Elance, it shouldn't cost too much if it's a short and straight forward template. Cheers.

I'd be using photoshop to design the logo and then after effects to animate it.
