setting up a business while working full time

Hi everyone

I have searched and cannot find the answer to this question that is related to doing this in Ireland.

Question

1. Can you set up a legit business while working in a company. then take the plunge?
   
2. If so, how do you sort out tax etc while being a PAYE employee?

for example
working full time in an office(this is paying bills at the moment)
setting up a website selling widgets
leave office job to work full time in your business

I hope my question is clear enough if not I will clarify more but would love some help on this.

Initially you have to check with your current employer whether they have any regulations on having personal businesses because most of the employers don’t like that.
