Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

2 Gardai with just batons holding off about 20 blokes fighting each other and then one bloke gets hit on the ground later on. Quick response time by the reinforcements though.

were those people trapped in the pub during the ordeal, isn't that against fire safety regulations or something

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 987 ✭✭✭The Royal Scam

I like it at 12:11:30 when the 3rd and 4th Squad car arrive and the 2 guards run up around the corner and batter the head off the first lad they see. You can imagine them gee-ing themselves all the way up from pearse st. station.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,250 ✭✭✭✭Iwasfrozen

Yeah well handled by the garda, doesn't seem like anyone was hurt too badly.

In fairness, they work the body. One of them flick-outs to the head would be a trip to the ICU, if not Glasnevin.

You're right, i'm sure they would have much preferred to be out in the fresh piss laden air of Temple Bar.

Nay sir. The mingled scent of drink, urine, vomit and fast food is a balm to the senses.

lol.. seriously? Would allowing a gang of crazed nutters into the pub to run riot not also be against health and safety regulations?

Mental! Also, didnt realise that camera was there, could be a good idea for some boards promotion or something, show up with a giant banner!

That Gardaí were already there so I'd imagine there was some trouble before hand where they were seperated and the other group returned.

I'm a bit thick....where were they from and why were they there? Oh wait! Austrians fans cos we're playing them tonight, right? :o

  • Registered Users Posts: 290 ✭✭Problem123456

They sound irish so I don't think it was anything got to with the match

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,303 ✭✭✭THEZAPPA

It's like watching chimps on the discovery channel battling over territory, except that is an insult to chimps

    that was the guards

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,053 ✭✭✭wilkie2006

I'd say I'm pretty liberal but I would have loved to have seen that group of scumbags encircled by 100 Gardai and had the fucking shit knocked out of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 505 ✭✭✭Mikros

Fair play to the two guards at the start. That was a dangerous situation to face on your own and they went in to try and break it up with little regard for the numbers involved.

Fair play to the two Guards, they didn't shy from it.

I was hoping the bird at the start in the middle of the road was going to strip or something, would have been much more fun

They can be good with the batons when they want to be.
Remember the england riot in landsdowne road. After the main crowd cleared off and only the scum were left in the main lower stand...the garda waded in to them and gave them a good hiding.
Brought a tear to my eye. A little of the action at 1min 40 secs in the below.

Austrian football hooligans fighting posturing amongst themselves
more like. Yer man in the grey, the lad who does the haka when it first starts, does the best backpeddaling this side of french territory. Good to see the Gards lay in, sure they needed battering just for being noisy and annoying. I'd say the the translation goes somthing like "hold me back, hold me back" "come on I'll have ya" "hold me back". Bunch of tools.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,674 ✭✭✭Mardy Bum

    Football hooligans are mindbogglingly stupid.

How pathetic does your life have to be to get involved in that neanderthal-like activity?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,023 ✭✭✭Fukuyama

Fair play to the gardaí there.

They showed some serious control with the group of 20 when there were only two of themselves. And some full on aggression seconds later.

    Top job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,845 ✭✭✭Jet Black

About 45 seconds into the youtube vid I was expecting to see the Haka.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,773 ✭✭✭madma
