Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shoul emergency exits/ escape door in a dance hall always open outwards? If not what determines how they open?

Try the construction forum. Thats a question for someone who know their fire regulations.

I believe the regulations say they should open outwards for what should be pretty obvious reasons.

If you are concerned about a particular establishment then you should report the matter to the local chief fire officer, they have to certify dance halls and other places of entertainment in order for their licence to be renewed.

In a dance hall, normally, yes.

This may not apply to certain small rooms, e.g. toilets, stores or offices. However, if the spaces contains or could contain a large number of people, then they should be able to flow freely to the open air.

There may be practical difficulties with final 'porch' doors out onto the street, where these doors open inwards, so that they don't obstruct the street when opened. It would be a requirement that these doors be fixed open any time the premises is occupied by more than a few people.

Talk to fire office in your local fire brigade.
