Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

...is currently still ongoing afaik and has been reported to have slowed internet speeds globally, though I haven't noticed it myself.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21954636
Five national cyber-police-forces are investigating the attacks.

It's being fought between spammers and anti-spammers.

The spammers say that a private company has no right to tell others what they can and cannot put on the net.

    Anyone notice the slowdown?

    Nah, its this lot...

Biggest DDoS attack in history slows Internet, breaks record at 300 Gbps

If you can’t reach Netflix, or are having difficulties accessing other sites, then it might be due to this huge online fight between CyberBunker, a Dutch hosting company, and Spamhaus, an anti-spam group. This Web war began when Spamhaus blacklisted the Dutch company as spammers

You have to admire this Lindford guy. He's Just egging them on and rubbing their noses in it although I don't think that's the way to prevent this from escalating.

Gonna agree with the CyberBunker lads that
Nobody ever deputized Spamhaus to determine what goes and does not go on the Internet. They worked themselves into that position by pretending to fight spam.”

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 890 ✭✭✭CrinkElite

Yeah Syco I'd tend to agree with you although on the other hand, no one is forcing anyone to use spamhaus's blocklists. edit/ oh wait. they are.

I don't see the point in spam , I can honestly say I have never considered to buy anything that has been advertised in a spammy way.

I can't get my head around why they bother to do it tbh, if anything it makes me to not want to use the company

Wow. Read this thread before dinner and said to myself "bull****".

Then I watch Russia Today news and the geezer from the blocked web-host in Holland was on admitting are battling the Spamhous blockage.
A little invisble war of countries and companies in 1's and 0's.
    http://www.russiatoday.com/news/spamhouse-cyber-bunker-attack-934/

I apologise for being so sceptical now.

An interesting piece here from Cloudflare, they're the people Spamhaus hired to keep them afloat.

All is not well with the interwebs it seems.

Egypt: Naval forces capture 3 divers trying to cut undersea Internet cable

    By Associated Press,

CAIRO — Egypt’s naval forces captured three scuba divers who were trying to cut an undersea Internet cable in the Mediterranean on Wednesday, a military spokesman said. Telecommunications executives meanwhile blamed a weeklong Internet slowdown on damage caused to another cable by a ship.

Poor internet. Getting hit from all sides. :(

Cyber Attack on Spam Fighter Said to Be Over

Companies that monitor Internet traffic said Wednesday that an intensive cyber attack against a European spam-fighting organization has ended.

If only all wars could be this bloodless. Seems like this war may be at an end.

I don't get this POV at all.
Cyberbunker are openly willing to profit from criminal activity. If others start rejecting their traffic, they've only themselves to blame.

Well, if it was a PR stunt, it became more of an advantage to CyberBunker. I never heard of them before this. I can see myself availing of their services in the future.

One no more has the right to spew malicious traffic onto the internet than one does to falsely shout 'Fire' in a packed theatre.
