Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Assignment Rule Question

    I have been wondering is there a rule in place or not as to whether an assignment instigator can also enter their own topic? For instance, had fran426ft won his own topic last week would he have gone on to decide this weeks?

    I'm curious more than anything else.

    As far as I am aware - there is no restriction and I think there have been occasions when there were back to back winners - who then nominated a 2nd time in a row.

    In a thread some years ago I suggested that assignment winners and then choosers of the new topic should be excluded - as they can pick a subject to suit themselves! This did not get much support.

    I didnt enter any pic in the previous challenge I chose...


    But as you can see I have entered 2 pics in the current challenge but they have been carefully selected to ensure I wont win:P:P well...



    Are there any opinions out there?

    In the not very long time I've been doing the assignments I've only seen 1 assignment winner pick & win the next task, I don't think anyone said anything about it

    I think it's ok to re-enter as when I've had to choose a task I usually pick something I think I need to improve on or want to try out & I don't usually put a photo in till late in the task, if at all

    'IF' there was anything to be brought in to change the task pickers entry maybe they cant enter till the 2nd week ? I don't think it would be a good idea for them to be excluded as we're all trying to learn from this & picking a subject you want to improve on & not being to enter/get feedback kind of defeats the purpose of an assignment

    Just my opinion though...

    There are ancient rules on stickies here which have nothing to do with the current assignments which were re-vamped some time ago and basically consist of the
    'Rules' you see on each assignment.


    One rule I think we should add to the end of the current very short list given at the commencement of each challenge is that

    'If the image you submit has no obtainable exif data whether this is because it is a scanned film image or otherwise then you should clearly confirm the exact date it was taken on'
