    Gets her own thread

 There's nothing "less" famous about Doris Day. Even people who've never seen a single film of hers will know her name.

Depends on generation... for someone born in 21st century I doubt either her films or persona are on their radar.

It’s also good to post here anyway as some people (like me) might not always check the Forum main page. If interested in the person who died we can then review the specific thread.

    Aww. :(

One of my favourite sci-fi characters.

Watched all of 'Blake's 7' a few years ago when I had a dose of the flu. It's still a good show, even if it's laughable in many areas nowadays.

Such a gloomy series over all, with a brilliant ending.

Clicking on this thread, I was struck suddenly by the vivid memory of watching in bemusement as my dad tuned the radio for the death notices. I must be getting old.

I've thought the same thing myself. It is a strangely morbid interest.

Sylvia Miles (Midnight Cowboy and Farewell My Lovely) has died, she was 94

Right, Olivia De Havilland really must be last woman standing now (although Miles was never one of the classic Hollywood actors as she only hit the silver screen seriously in middle age)

He got to 88 though, that is genuinely impressive given his tendency to rowdy shenanigans. Always gave great performances, even in not-so-great films :)

Had a good turn as the vindictive manipulator Slade in The Cincinatti Kid

Modern film stars just dont get involved in enough rowdy shenanigans.

Wasnt it only 10 years ago or so he got so drunk he accidently broke into a bank he thought was his home :D and back while filming the movie Maidstone back in the 70s he tried to smash Norman Mailers head in with a hammer while either drunk or high so yea quite the hellraizer lol.

Don't get that kind of carry on with movi stars today.
