Folks I'm looking at heading to the Melbourne area with a permenant residency visa.

I've 10 years experience in IT would anyone know any agencies worth registering with? I'm looking at going in about 6 months but want to start working on things asap

Any specific area of IT? Many agencies specialise in certain sectors.

I found www.ambition.com.au to be excellent. After months of looking for the right role I had 2 offers within 2 days of making contact with these guys.
I work in BI & Data Warehouse Architecture/DBA fields, they seem particularly well connected in these sectors.

Drop Declan a line in Visafirst. They assist with IT placements and get you free flights to Australia if they handle the placement. They typically have employers hiring directly so you won't have your salary savaged by recruiter fees every month. Dclune@visafirst.com

Hey folks any of these agencies offer IT 457 sponserships ? thanks guys.

Declan does and does video interviews but from what I understand it can be tricky getting sponsorship if employers have t even met you yet.

I know a friend that knew her skills were in demand (programmer), did interviews with recruiters, got job offer and then dropped it on them she didn't have the visa. They decided to hire and sponsor.
Very risky though.
