I've been running for just over a year. I did DCM last year in 3hrs 20min and looking to get a Boston Qualifying time this year. I run in asics kayanos and have not had any injuries to date. I'm considering getting a pair of flats for races but don't know if I should or what type to go for. Any advice from anybody with a bit more experience would be greatly appreciated.

You've been running in a pretty heavy structured shoe to date with no injuries, assuming you had gait analysis before choosing this shoe you potentially have some pronation issues. There's no doubt you can go lighter and less structured than the Kayano but flats may not be the answer.
Advice would be to get yourself to a specialist running store, if you post your location we can give you options.

AK would have a better reputation and will spend the time with you. Ring ahead if you're popping in over the weekend. They normally have a better selection in store than online also.
