Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Err....are you asking our opinion on if Irish couple got married outside of Ireland due to it being a 'mixed' marriage ?

Family Search's UK marriage indexes aren't the same as FreeBMDs. FreeBMD intends to transcribe the entire civil registration indexes, Family Search has a very small index of those in comparison (https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1473015 and a few regional ones). So its understandable that FreeBMD might list a marriage it doesn't - the opposite would be more surprising.

As goes a mixed marriage going abroad - very likely. English couples used to run to Gretna Green, Holyhead was obviously the nearest available place seeing as it was all one country on the island here then.

A very cheap / ad-supported equivalent of Ancestry that had all the free indexes/records from around the place would be fantastic but I can't see it happening; until then you'll need to search Family Search, FreeBMD, our NLI records, the PRONI records, etc etc.

As MYOB said, if you're researching a record from the UK then freebmd is the definitive place to look. Not finding a record inn familysearch is pretty common but the other way around would be very strange and worth spending more time investigating.

Editing your op like this after others have tried to help you is unnessesary and earns you an infraction.
