Hi folks I need a little help here.

I use yahoo mail myself and they do a great job of dealing with spam but my father is still on an eircom.net email account.

He is plagued with spam email from a few sources.

The following is what I get when I look at the properties in outlook.
    Return-Path: <dailydish@yournewsletters.net>
    Delivered-To: eircom.net-************@eircom.net
    Received: (vpopmail 59019 invoked by uid 16); 30 Mar 2013 09:08:26 +0000
    Received: (qmail 59013 messnum 3301062 invoked from network[213.94.190.18/avas04.vendorsvc.cra.dublin.eircom.net]); 30 Mar 2013 09:08:26 -0000

He's added them to the blocklist many times using thee "junk email" feature but it has no effect.

He also regularly receives email from what appear to be his contacts but they're just spam.

Is there something I'm missing here or maybe there's some undetected malware on the machine?

He's running a fully patched Win7(32bit) OS with Microsoft security essentials.

I can post the details of the other sources if it helps, thanks in advance.

I've just found out about outlook's message rule feature, It's clunky but it works hopefully.

Get him to use Mailwasher (the free version is just fine). After a week or two, he'll have the usual suspects (and their domains) blacklisted and all is well. With Mailwasher, they'll be deleted from the server even before they're being downloaded and moved to some junk folder, where they're still eating up disk space.

Thanks Torgay, Outlook actually has that functionality already so I think I'll see how he gets on with that.
