Any tours available that describes the different types of architecture and it's history in Dublin? I've always been interested in art history and architecture and there's so much of it in Dublin city!

Not sure if they give tours but the Dublin Civic Trust hold exhibitions and lay on lectures relating to architecture in the Capital.

They usually have an open house every year, in 2011 it was 7th-9th October, have the booklet here.

You might be interested in this podcast, it covers history and architecture (and geology). You play it on your MP3 while it directs you to various places of interest. I haven't purchased it, but it looks interesting.

They sometimes do walking tours, but there doesn't seem to be any scheduled at the moment

You might find something here: http://www.walkingtours.ie/ Pat is lovely and very knowledgeable about Dublin history. A lot of his tours are aimed at tourists though so maybe have a read about them and see if any tick a few of the boxes you are looking for.

Otherwise you need to watch out for Open House Dublin in October, that should be more up your street :)

I picked up a leaflet in the Tourist Information Office on Suffolk street a while ago. Sorry I don't have it at hand here and can't quite remember the people behind but they offered architecural tours.

Also try the Meetup Group in Dublin, there is a Dublin local History group and they do occasional architecural walks, there was one recently along the Grand Canal which was very interesting.
