Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Advice on replacing a Dell monitor capacitor?

It would be premature to diagnose a faulty capacitor until you've opened up the case. If the cap has failed in the dramatic way you describe, then it should be fairly obvious. It'll probably look rather like this.

Be careful when you open the case. The capacitors that aren't faulty can store a hefty charge. They can shock you or else produce dramatic results if you should short them out accidentally.

Blackspur is a brand of cheap crap; don't waste your money. Spend a few more euro & get an Antex or Weller iron.

Yeah I had a look today and all the caps look fine, Nothing to indicate of any problem inside so I'm just gonna assume there's a loose connection somewhere and leave it at that. Shame though, that monitor's been going 10+ years and served me well :)

Check the SMPS IC, its a little 8 pin IC in the middle of the PCB near the main switching transistors. I had one just go last weekend, the top was taken clean off the IC.

I'll take a look this weekend, busy week so far!
