    Hi All,

I'll be on a long holiday soon and I'm looking for a way to back up my photos online whilst I'm travelling.

    Basically, I want to:
    - Get my photos from the SD card in my camera to my Box.com online storage account.
    - Not have to carry a laptop or tablet with me.
    - Use the WiFi in the hotel room and hopefully leave the update running overnight (so I don't have to sit in an internet café for hours!)

I currently have an Iphone (but I would get an android If it made life easier).

I'm currently looking at this little device which might do the job:

    Anybody have any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

Beware. Some hotels limit uploads for mobile devices. I had this problem in Florida. My connection started to go extremely slow and I am positive it was throttled.

I was uploading my photos to dropbox.

Dropbox on Android can automatically sync new photos to the cloud. It can be set (by default I think) to only upload when on wifi. Ubuntu One and SkyDrive have the same functionality I think. I'd be surprised if the apps couldn't do the same on the iPhone as well.

I'm using Google+. Everytime I take a photo (iPhone 4s) it uploads the photo automatically to my google + page. I only use it for this free feature and only person that will see the photos is me.

This might work - but I already have actual SD cards (not micro ones) for my camera.

You can't connect a microSD to an iPhone. Even if I got an android that has an expansion slot, I think android phones store files for the phone on the micro SD too (like for large apps). If I were to replace this with a microSD from my camera - it might mess up the phone operation. Maybe worth looking into though!

These online backup apps work fine for photos that are already on the phone. The tricky part is getting the photos from my camera onto my phone (without using a laptop).

Burn photos to CD, post home, when photos are received erase from SD card, rinse repeat. Most hotels have very limited wifi and you could take ages to upload them to cloud storage.

You could always try one of those wi-fi SD cards that add wi-fi capability to your camera directly
