For me anyway, there's always one really powerful line or group of lines that makes the song.

    For example:

    Kanye West - Power
The line "He's so ... f*cking gifted" is unbelievable.

    Zach's Story - Matt C

"Glass starts shattering, behind the loud echoes of the shots Zach's laughing and babbling..
All y'all thought y'all could f*ck with me? If you want me n*gga come get me"

    Powerful stuff.
    :D

    Anyone got any good ones?

Didn't know tech was homophobic, theyre pretty fùckin immature lines on his behalf so.

For pure lyricism one of my favourite lines would have to be the opener for Unbelievable by Biggie

"Live from bedford stuyvesant, the livest one"

Another line I fùckin love and have to rap along with when I hear it is the second last line from Lauryn Hill on her verse in zealots

"And even after all my logic and my theory, I add a mother****er so you ignorant niggas hear me"

I don't think its a case that he's homophobic, more just taking the piss. The whole song is based on being a pr!ck so it suits the song.

I looked up the lyrics to check that I wasn't taking it out if context. That **** is straight up homophobic.

The whole point of using gay as an insult is that (in the eyes of the person making the insult) there is something wrong with being gay - or being perceived to be such.

"Real G's move in silence like lasagne."

Fair enough, the man him self is not homophobic to the best of my knowledge, but I can see how the lines are, I'll remove them.

Don't remove them. It is what it is.

It's better this things are acknowledged and spark a conversation, then pretending they don't exist.

I assume the lyrics being alluded to where Obnoxious by Immortal Technique. If so, I seen an interview with him where he says he has grown and realises its unacceptable to use language like that now (tho I'm pretty sure he still performs that song live). Whether or not he was homophobic and realised he shouldn't be overt about it, or isn't homophobic and never was and its just lyrics, I don't know. As was pointed out before, that song is meant to offend pretty much everyone, he's being a prick in it.

Same with Brother Ali, He used the word Fa**ot on 1 or 2 older tracks and says now he believes differently and doesn't use language like that any more. When he does those songs (or one imparticular, cos its the only one I can remember off the top of my head) he substitutes the word for something else.

He even has a "pro" gay song called Tight Rope (well technically it's only one verse)

Attitudes are definitely changing on the subject. Though of course we shouldn't be in the situation where they need changed!

    Anyway back on topic

"Give me a break, I got bars like Kit-kats"

    Double meaning galore :D

    Jay Z - So Appalled

    - I love this line. It can be about Harvey Dent, Tupac, Biggie, Heath Ledger or any musician/rapper who has died early in their career and not had to suffer the hatred of detractors that even the most popular of artists attract. Basically, die early and become a legend.
Dark Knight feeling, die and be a hero
Or live long enough to see yourself become a villain

    Big Pun - Twinz

    - this one does not need to be explained.
Dead in the middle of Little Italy little did we know
That we riddled some middlemen who didn't do diddly

    GZA - Killah Hills 10304

    - sick lyrics from the GZA. For those of you who don't know, Sammy 'The Bull' Gravano was John Gotti's right hand man when Gotti was the boss of the Gambino crime family in New York in the late '80s. The FBI got to Gravano and he worked with them to bring down Gotti and save himself. He was (and still is, I think) the highest ranking Mafia figure to co-operate with the law and break the Cosa Nostra oath.
As the feds rushed him, coming through U.S. Customs
Now look who's on the witness stand singing, a well known soprano
A smash hit from Sammy Gravano

"You a stupid hoe, you a, you a stupid hoe" - Nicki Minaj

On the surface, simple name-calling. But, on a metaphorical level, Minaj attempts to delve deep into contemporary society, calling out unintelligent, promiscuous girls who are accepted as the norm all around the world in this harrowing social commentary.

A truely rivetting line in all respects, shook me to my core when I first interpreted it, evokes strong senses of female pride and unity.

People need to listen songs before they judge them. That song does not show his actual beliefs no more than Hands on the wheel shows Q's opinions on drink driving. Also don't watch carlos mencia, ever.

    Pharoahe Monch ~ Oh No

    André 3000

"Where there is cheese there are rats,
Where there are rats there are cats,
Where ever there are cats there are dogs.
If you got the dogs you got bitches.
Bitches always out to put their paws on your riches."

    Eminem

"whats the difference between us? We could start at the penis."

    Just plain funny

" Why do I act like I'm all high and mighty when inside I'm dying. I've finally realized that I need help"

    Bit more serious

"If you preach hate at the service those words aren't anointed
That holy water that you soak in has been poisoned"

"Fifty dollars for a t-shirt, that's just some ignorant bitch ****"

I literally have hundreds of favorite lyrics, but its late so lets just leave it at that for now

    Immortal Technique - The Martyr

"Even the 35th President of the Republic
Was murdered by factions of his own government
So now that it’s proven, that a soldier of Revolution
Or head of an empire, disguised in a Constitution
Can not escape the retribution or manipulation
Of the self-appointed rulers of the planets corporations
So Imma need every generation to put your hands up
Cause you can only get ‘em off your back when you stand up!"

Bad Meets Evil - Above the Law
"You got a mouth like Kanye, I'll knock your whole bottom row of teeth out"

I always liked Jay Z's lines from Diamonds from Sierra Leone

    "I'm not a businessman, I'm a business, man"

"“Difficult TAkes A Day, Impossible Takes A Week”"

And his line in Beach Chair, which has really stuck in my head, since first hearing it.

"“I’m not afraid of dying. I’m afraid of not trying”

"I'd meet muslims, gangstas, bitches, rastas and macoroni niggas, impastas (imposters)" - Andre 3000

Lines like that are why I consider him one of the greatest MC's alive

I don't think you can really claim it's out if context. I get the concept of the song is to be obnoxious but he's not really using the gay slurs in any ironic sense. He sees calling somebody gay a put down.

Regardless of whether he believes in live and let live etc, he's lines clearly indicate that he sees being gay as a bad thing. Otherwise it wouldn't be a put down or insult, would it?

I'm tempted to quote every line from The Cold Vein and Jay-Z's Grammy Family freestyle in this thread :pac:

    I am the poetical pastor
Slave to a label but I own my masters
Still get it popping without Artist And Repertoire
'Cause march is a monarch only minus the A&R
    - P. Monch; Desire

"The coke that I cook is as pure pure as child's heart" - Malice - Road Till the Casket Drops. Such a cold line

I threw my tape out on the streets and watched my tape lift off
With out a verse from Weezy, Kanye or the fake Rick Ross
    - Freddie Gibbs - Crushin' Feelin's

Nas - It Ain't Hard To Tell:
I drink Moet with Medusa, give her shotguns in Hell,
From the spliff that I lift and inhale, it ain't hard to tell

Nas - NY State of Mind:
It drops deep as it does in my breath, I never sleep, cause sleep is the cousin of death,
Beyond the walls of intelligence, life is defined, I think of crime when I'm in a New York state of mind

    Inpectah Deck - Triumph
I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies and hypotheses,
Can't define how I be dropping these mockeries, lyrically perform armed robbery

    Lauryn Hill - Final Hour
Now I'mma get the mozzarella like a Rockafeller,
Still be in the church of Lalibela, singing hymns acapella,
Whether posed in Mirabella in couture or collecting residuals off The Score

Eminem - The Way I Am (though much of the impact is in the delivery):
Since birth I've been cursed with this curse to just curse
And just blurt this berserk and bizarre sh*t that works,
And it sells and it helps in itself to relieve
All this tension dispensin these sentences
Getting this stress that's been eating me recently off of this chest
    And I rest again peacefully

    Q-Tip - Midnight:
Intensity, most rappers don't see it,
Spirit wise, musically, you gotta be it,
Serenity and silence of the sounds and emotions
In the concrete jungle and the sun don't bungle

Hater niggas marry hater bitches and have hater kids
    ...
You girl don't like me, how long has she been gay?
    ...
It's funny how these wack niggas need my help
    Wasn't around when I couldn't feed myself
