The property across from bus eireann made more money being empty for those 3-4 years than it would have fully occupied.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,867 ✭✭✭kn

Bollox to him, if he is robbing people of their hard earned cash and property he should be named and shamed!.

Anyone could also publish something on here maliciously as well. Unless there is a link to a newspaper article etc names should not be just thrown out like that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 360 ✭✭Bactidiaryl

His name is well known now. Mentioning on here to our wide audience of 17 won't make any difference.
He's been named & shamed on facebook quite regularly recently........but, imo, you own an iPhone you deserve to be fcked over
Android all the way baby! :P

Android only for those can't afford iPhones.

Are we likely to see a boom time again for Property in Kerry?

Hopefully not, we're still paying for the last one.

You probably should not have mentioned names in fairness.

Why Not?? I was inquiring if anyone had any experiences with him?? Its no different to naming any other small business or business person??? Didn't think i was breaking any rules there??

From what i can gather he did a lot of business through facebook on Buy Sell Swap pages. Tried to find some links but i think he and his nearest and dearest have all now been banned from these pages following a major blow out with many people!!

Seems like a fairly big operation with a lot of people disgruntled and out of pocket!!

    Some have contacted the guards.

    Beware fellow Tralee posters!!

Your postings online is in fact 'publishing' and are subject to the exact same laws of defamation as with any paper. If you have a link to an article etc to go with the name then that would be fine. Its not defamatory to come on here and say that you had a bad experience with AN Other service or retailer, it is defamatory to allege that they are in some way dodgy or acting unlawfully without something like a newspaper article link to back it up.

Please.......He was running a business, its a review on a service/business, no different to saying a restaurant is overpriced or the foods is ****e in a particular place.

Thanks for the advice but ill take my chances with the law. Maybe you should give Edward Snowden a call though!!

I see they are going to sink the boat at Rossbeigh out into the sands again - Whats the point of that? I know some people are taking pieces of it away but surely a good sign explaining its significance will suffice.

    No.

There is an over abundance of property available in Kerry at the moment, all in the wrong places though.

That building across from Bus Eireann should be a daily reminder of how the greed of a few can cause long lasting consequences.

I hope we would never let it happen again. Too many of my family and friends have had to emigrate to find work because of the last one.

And for us that are left and working, well be paying USC and insurance Levy's and overpriced mortgages for the rest of our lives.

I would hope the next generation would never be conned by Fianna fail and there developer friends.

Without wishing to get into politics, I believe the boom and bust legacy will be a significant event in the history books. The enormity of the event will be compared with the Famine . I guess future generations will be made aware of the mess created and by whom.

Nonetheless we are where we are and Ireland's recent return to the International Bond Market, shows that following a period of extreme austerity, Ireland is back on track. This is due to the resilience of Ireland's people.

Sure it has hot been pleasant for anyone, but our resilience coupled with our positivity will get Ireland recognition in International circles as a good place to invest. Already we are being looked at by significant investors.
So there is light at the end of the tunnel.:)

You have it, Tax write off

The tax write off was available not just in respect of that particular property.

There were hundreds if not thousands of similar situations throughout the country.

We must remember that to avail of significant tax breaks investors invested huge amounts of money, and created employment too.!

I am slow to criticise the entrepreneurial skills involved, as we need more like minded entrepreneurs to take risks, invest money, create jobs and help get the Economy moving again.

I wouldn't call what happened during the boom entreprenurial. There were plenty jobs created alright. But they were all created in a credit bubble, and a false economy.

They took risks alright, and now the taxpayer is bailing thm out. While all the "developers" scarpared off to england to declare bankruptcy and shed all there debts.

It was all a pyramid scheme.

The real entrepreneurs are up in the technology park, setting up viable businesses that will be Still around in 20 years!

    Fair comment Michael.

I think we all accept we are where we are. No point in raking over old coals.

During the boom everyone got some benefit whether or not we would like to admit it. Before you think or say it , no, I have not been in the Fianna Fail tent in Galway! LOL

Delighted to hear about the entrepreneurial work going on in the Technology Park, alas we need entrepreneurs in all spheres of business..technology is just one of the many businesses we need to grow and develop.

Not all developers ran off to the UK though, some diversified into other fields,
eg Wind farms. So they have not lost their entrepreneurial spirit. Being an entrepreneur is all about taking risks, even with money, whether it is their own or their banks!

Look around Tralee town alone, in 2013 we have witnessed entrepreneurs open new coffee shops , restaurants both fast food and specialised restaurants like the Gluten Free Coffee Restaurant. It is not just pleasing to the coffee and cake brigade!

In addition we have seen two new art galleries open, not to forget a number of new hairdressers and barber shops. The owners of all these businesses are entrepreneurs too. I am sure other posters could remind us of others I have not mentioned.

If entrepreneurs were not willing to take risks we would never see a new business open.

There is a place up on the stretch of road between Manor and Lidl. Though, it's just a house. Hardly enough for the 1000+ Islamic community.

Delighted to see plans for a new Islamic Cultural Centre.

The existing premises is no longer suitable to meet the Communities needs.

If they are applying to KCC it must be outside the Town boundaries? Unless KCC have already taken over Tralee's planning in advance of the merger.
