Just saw this posted on youtube (Liams Lodge, respite care centre for families with children living with rare/genetic conditions). As the conversation has covered good news re new opening, thought this would brighten things up another bit!
    Well future opening....

I wonder if they will close one of the two Tralee stores & just have one in town?

I think they would have said that in the article if it was so. They did go to the bother of listing the other stores that were closing in Dublin.

Well she has been getting all 'nostalgic' lately in her shopping habits - midlife crisis? :D

they are stocking the 'Diesel' label, and non branded stuff too. I wouldn't necessarily put a age bracket for it as even though I am unfortunately 36, I spotted a few things I liked & the same for my hubby!

PS the Tesco in Abbey Court has 12x500ml boxes of Miller for €5. They are dated best before today's date but in reality they will be good for months.

just heard that the Town council meeting tonight has passed a motion unanimously rejecting any infringement in the town park, so no road going in!

The €100K donation that St John's got from a non-Catholic Hong Kong woman has been hitting the national headlines. I spotted it in the Parish accounts that came in the post in the last week and just assumed it was a bequest in a will. However there seems to be a whole other story to it.

Utensils in Castle Street roughly opposite PTSB or TK Maxx do a great range too.

What exactly are you looking for? Is it something out of the ordinary, I know where all sorts of baking things can be got :)

Great, thanks! Im looking for a round tin to make sponges and it has that handle thing at the side that you turn around and it seperates the cake from the bottom when its baked

That's a real old style type sponge cake tin, you might find them in Tesco or the 2Euro shops. Have kind of been replaced by non stick or loose bottomed versions. You can get the non stick spray too which saves lining the tin. My preference is always to line the tin though even with non stick.

I got some sponge tins for my niece to practice with in Carmels in Rock St lately, it is hard to stop those cheap tins going rusty though.

Did you try Heatons, they do quite a bit of that on the first floor

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,340 ✭✭✭phormium

Heatons do have a bit of this stuff too, watch the sizes though, they have tins marked 9" which they technically are from edge of lip of tin to other edge but the part the cake will come out of is only 8" across the bottom so realistically it is an 8" tin and not a 9". This problem is not confined to them, I always have a measuring tape in my bag to double check sizes, can play hell with recipes if tin is wrong size!

Yes, heard the News at One on Radio 1 today and they featured it. Apparently, the lady from Hong Kong was really taken by the two imposing angel statue holy water fonts in St Johns and felt they provided divine intervention for a sick friend of hers. A feel good story!

On a separate note, I heard JLS will be performing free in Denny Street for the Festival this year. That's the teenyboppers of Tralee sorted!

They will be performing, but not for free, same deal as jedward last year, tickets to be sold & Denny st to be closed off

Was expecting more with all the hype about them but they sound like a second rate Coronas (first rate Coronas is bad enough)

Was in Tralee this afternoon. Town looked very well in the Spring Sunshine. Great to see lots of visitors about the place particularly people from the UK enjoying the remainder of the Easter School Break.:) Welcome to all visitors!

did anyone notice Tralee was shown in a feature on the 9pm RTE news tonight?
I did spot someone filming in town today, but didn't realise it was RTE. It was something to do with small businesses being in financial trouble, there was a meeting in town today regarding it & they showed some empty units in the town centre.

Very interesting. Where did they show on TV? Who organised the meeting? Any idea of the outcome?
It was certainly very busy about the place. The Courts were sitting too!:)
