I was passing by Rocky Mountain today at 6pm and the sign outside is gone and the lights were out - will it's replacement be in soon?

their facebook page seems to be gone too, so no idea when the changeover happens. I would assume its sometime in Feb.

Yes. Supposedly the entire inside has been ripped out and renovated.

I would have a sneaking suspicion that the owners have made a little profit on the whole deal.
Wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that they were always angling for a chain to come in & make them an "offer" they couldn't refuse

To be fair, anything will be better than the disaster that Rocky Mountain was. They just weren't set up properly for what they were doing.
Hopefully the workers will be kept on by the chain that takes over, and at least it's not another white elephant building in town.

I think they were set up perfectly for what they intended on doing......and it's worked out to plan

If Burger King had gone for planning permission from the onset instead of rocket mountain how do you think they would have fared planning wise. With a bit more hostility I would guess. Food for thought. No pun intended. Well maybe small intention.

Heading down to the Carlton hotel for a few days next weekend. What are the locals thoughts on the hotel and the must dos in Tralee at the end of January? Thanks

Very nice hotel, well run & has a nice leisure centre.
If you have children, the aquadome & cinema are 500m away from you

Was thinking that myself until I learned that's its a franchise and that business have to GIVE Burger King money to set up. In return Burger King provides you with all the necessary help equipment and advice in setting up a restaurant

The Aquadome is free for Carlton hotel residents - just ask at the Carlton reception about it. Even if you do not have children you should use it yourself for the sauna, steam room and swimming seeing as its free with the hotel.

You are correct, it is a franchise & you do have to pay them for the rights. But economically & timewise, it works out much better for the new owners this way

Also worth considering, Kerry County Museum in Denny Street, A night at the dogs at Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, Spa Seafood Restaurant.

Tralee is also a nice place to go shopping, plenty of non-chain specialist shops , and if you would like a break for coffee and lunch, try Aines, Yummy's, Chopins or The Gluten Free Cafe.:)

Try out the New Wetland's wildlife sanctuary, viewing tower and Lakeside Bistro. Next to Aquadome.

I noticed that the 'FAS' office is closing to the public next week. I think the new employment office is the building opposite the post office on Edward street?
