Just what we need. Yet another (Topaz) filling station. Hope and expect there'll be plenty of objections.

Especially as you would think the demand would be fulfilled in that area considering you have the one a stones throw away in Horans along with the Clash and Kelloil ones a little further up also.

I do however want to see something fill that gap though as it looks really ugly and overgrown compared to the Aldi development next door. A bar/restaurant along the lines of Gallys or O'Donnells might be nice as there are not that many bar food type options in the immediate area (apart from Stokers). It could draw match goers at Stacks along with bus and rail passengers etc.

They could at least explain what cause the children to be concerned about it. The article is so fecking vague it'll just cause scare mongering among certain people. Plenty of time a car approached me for directions when I was a youngster and it was never an issue.

Would it make more sense to ask an adult for directions ?

Possibly, but I never previously thought it was inappropriate to ask a child for directions but may think twice now Often, if you are in a large labyrinth housing estate trying to find a particular road, it's often only kids that are out playing etc. Should you avoid asking them which street is which for fear you'll have a Facebook witch hunt page set up against you?

It's an unfortunate side effect of heightened vigilance that any innocent interaction such as asking for directions can be misconstrued as something more sinister. I can understand why many, men in particular, no longer take part in volunteering/leading/coaching activities that involve children for fear of this type of scaremongering. It leads to a lack of male role models and mentors for youths, the effects of which have been well documented.

Another store has opened in the Horan Centre, next to Argos - Total Cleaning Supplies
    https://www.facebook.com/Total-Cleaning-Supplies-168812576498398/?fref=nf
Seems to only be one unit left there now!

I noticed the parking around there is crazy now, with people parking up on the path on the main road! It will be mad as it gets closer to Christmas! Good to see it busy, but why people need to park up on the double yellow's on the path when there's a big car park next to it!

Some people would park inside the door if they thought they could get away with it!

They don't need to but they can and will because there is no fear of fines, clamping or towing.

And they think the double yellow lines are there to brighten up the road.

yeah, just little decorations on the road...that and yellow boxes...people seem to think stopping right in the middle of a yellow box is what you are meant to do!

Looks like they were trying to lure the kids out, a pretty vital detail that was omitted by Traleetoday's article.

Traffic getting stuck in the yellow box outside of the Pres entrance provides me with no end of entertainment when I pass it.

The school sent notes home to all parents, there was no mention of an attempt to lure anybody

Something I often wondered is that for many years now there has been steelwork for a new building/roof sticking up out of the Horan centre (nearer the Dunnes side) but it has never been finished.

That was put up to take advantage of planning permission that was about to run out at the time. Of course, a building can't be left in an incomplete state indefinitely and enforcement action should really be taken sooner or later.

But that might require a complaint to kick-start.

apparently that Megane issue outside the school had an innocent explanation!

A complaint was launched approx 10 years ago as the wind rushing through the steel was causing sleepless nights for local residents. Horans wrapped the steel so as to deaden the sound....and that was it, no further action since

Robert O'Mahony the photographer is holding a table quiz tonight in the Kerins o Rahillys GAA clubhouse at 8.30pm, rauding money for charity, a table of 4 is 40euro. All welcome.

Thought it might be something like that alright, its still hard to see the reasoning in leaving it that way, the Horan Centre itself is doing quite well and that takes from the look of the place.

Apparently the Adare bypass route has been chosen, but it could take years! Still, can you imagine how short the trip to Dublin will be once that's done! :)

That's a fine kettle of fish! Who devised the 2 highwaymen story - or is it a case of here comes the judge?

Is there a link for this? I assume the Guards went through CCTV from the Kerry Group HQ and found nothing?
