Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

C UNT is a horrible sounding word

I agree I think this is the worst of all the words in the English language. Lately I am starting to hate the word "broke".

    C*ntstruck - a term meaning in love/lust

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,706 ✭✭✭premierstone

Totes - next person I hear using this in everyday conversation is getting a good kicking!

Moth - when I first moved to Dublin and was asked if my GF was ''me moth'' I was horrified and nearly punched the guy, had never heard the term before and think its horrible.

Crusty. I squirm whenever someone describes something other than food as crusty.
What about the crusties you'll find by the Spanish Arch in Galway? :pac:

Squelch is an ugly word, as is defenestrate (secretly like using it though).

    Poll up.

I had to go through the pages and write down on a sheet of paper the names of the commonly occurring words. This may be the ugliest/hateful piece of paper in history, I better dump it, in case some poor misfortunate comes along and gives a look.

Funnily enough, I absolutely HATE the words 'nest' and 'burrow' when used in a conversation about insects! (not that I have conversations about insects that much, I'm not THAT close to Mr Attenborough - but you know what I mean ;) )

merge, why on earth is that considered ugly?

most of the words listed are ugly because of what they imply to some rather than meanings or the word itself being ugly to say or look at. Flange for example is just a building / engineering term that's been hijacked...

And thing spelt with an Z instead of the proper S is ugly English in my book.
