To demonstrate the use of rollback/save point, we are to deliberately create a failing insert..

What is a failing insert? I was thinking it may mean incorrect Syntax but I`m thinking there is more to this than that?

    Thanks

Could just try insert a duplicate key, the insert will fail and you can roll back the transaction.

Duplicate primary key would be the most straightforward..

others include ( on insert )

null column when the column has a not null constraint and no default,
    non existent foreign key constraint,
duplicate column on a unique indexed column

... or basically anything that breaks a constraint rule!

...or trying to insert 40 characters into a 20 character string field, etc.
