Check my list above, open eir have indicated no dates beyond June 29th. So either they are going on a huge holiday for the month of July or they just haven't published the dates for July yet and are indicating Autumn as a general date for everyone.

Last roll out update was end of May. Updates are released monthly. They have to give 4 weeks notice of a cab going live. I suspect at end of June or shortly after you will see an update to map with exact dates given for cabs out till end of July

Question folks - Checking the map here: my local exchange (LAY1_E01 in Lismacaffrey, Longford) used to be blue I'm certain, it's now green and marked as active. This exchange is relatively in the middle of nowhere - but about 3 months ago we were told to sign up for fibre to make sure we got in on the action as it was coming very soon which we did. They came to the area and connected several exchanges in our vicinity but not our one. We were then rang by and engineer and told it wasn't going to be connected for the forseeable future.

The exchange on the map though is marked as having fibre as active but I know it's not, line checked on Digiweb says:
    Exchange Code: Unknown

DSL Enabled: Yes - 10 MB

    NGB Enabled: No

    Fibre Enabled: No

    LLU Enabled: No

So at least we have something. What's interesting is the exchange doesn't even show up on this map. Why the hell do they even have two maps? Anyway think I should ring Eir? I suspect all they'll tell me is 'we have no plans but you can register your interest here... blah blah blah'. But it would be nice to know if it was completely off their road map.

    Thanks for the heads-up.
I see my local cabs are going live 20th July ... unfortunately I am too far away to benefit from it. :(

I see the map is updated with July dates now, a neighbouring exchange, CPM1_E01, is going live on July 13th.

An update for anyone in the Newport (Tipperary) area, work appears to have started on the final cab in the town, NRT1_003, between the convent school and service station on the Limerick road.

I was passing by earlier and there were lads there cutting the footpath with a circular saw next to the existing copper cab in preparation for the fibre cab base I assume, van with concrete mixer on the path.

They must be going on a nice summer holiday where I am, all remaining exchanges still listed as Autumn as the earliest. :(

    Hi all,

Finally got a date for my local exchange (CLR1_E01 on July 13)

But not for nearest cabinet - there is only one cabinet mapped in the area (CLR1_003 - Completion in progress)

Can it take a while for the cabinet to be connected?

    Thanks in advance!

The cabinet could be months before it is activated. There are many places where the exchange has been upgraded but cabinets have not. In my own case the exchange was upgraded but the cabinet is only planned so that's definitely a few months away in my case. You simply do not know other than it will definitely at the earliest be August if not September or even later

Is it fibre to the cabinet and copper from there?
Cabinet is in place .... What work is done after that? (Besides FTTH)

Also can you get fibre without going through the cabinet?

Fibre optic to the cabinet, copper from the cabinet to the premises, VDSL/efibre service.

This is what happens at the cabinet when a premises is being connected up - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=99265841
    keith_d99 wrote: »

Fibre optic cable that bypasses the cabinet and direct to the premises is a different service, FTTH, represented by the blue lines on the open-eir maps.

We've been moved out from mid 2016 to mid/late 2016. The FTTH date still says Winter 2016/2017. The pattern seems to be great optimism with dates that are far out, and continual slippage then as they get closer.

Hopefully be up and running soon

I have a question, when your getting an estimate for a fiber connection over the phone, are they quoting from the exchange to your house of the cabinet to your house?
    *Only talking Fiber not DSL*

According to there distance calculator I am 900Mtrs odd from the cab (Eir site has that is probably good for +- 40mb/30mb) The tech support says its 15mb, OK but from where is he getting that info? If it's from the line than thats in the exchange and not the cab... anyone understand me?

The tests are run from where you will get the service.
MTAU in exchange tests for ADSL

MTAUs in Cab or Exchange test for VDSL, whichever applies to your line.

I would guess that you're talking to ADSL support who probably only see relevant stats while the site is quoting the NGA prequal. You can get some monkeys on the line who don't understand there are things outside their monitor.

So in this case the eir site would be more accurate than the tech support guy?

I just reread your post, you used the draw a line from X to Y bit? Ignore that. You need to wait until a prequal value appears here:

    Hi Guys,
I am trying to see when my local exchange is going to go live for eFibre. Imagine are knocking on my door, but i would like to look at the alternatives first - that is, look at what Eir will offer. The trouble they tell me it's not ready. Except

This site: http://www.openeir.ie/Our_Network/#nga-map - tells me it is live (went live a couple of weeks ago)

This site: http://business.digiweb.ie/linechecker/ - say no

    Exchange Code: Unknown
DSL Enabled: Yes - 12 MB
NGB Enabled: Yes - 12 MB
    Fibre Enabled: No
    LLU Enabled: No

    This site: https://www.eir.ie/eirfibreinfo/map/
Tells me 'good news --- 6-weeks'

If i call Eir, they dither and ask me to register my details and they will get back to me when it's available - or tell me 'within 6-weeks'

    PKY1-E01 is my local exchange.

Any idea when i might be offered eFibre based on all this?

Any idea when i might be offered eFibre based on all this?

Never. You're too far from it to receive service. FTTH due by 2020/2022. Until then Imagine might be your best option.
