    Hey,

So basically I spoke to eir about changing my line from a congested one to uncongested. Sales told me I could get an uncongested line and after speaking to 4 different people, they told me they couldn't answer my questions and would get back to me within 24 hours. 24 hours are up and I have heard nothing.

Even though eir say I can get uncongested, I don't believe I can. My exchange is BHS1_E01 in Ballinhassig, Cork. It is live for fibre but I am too far away, around 2.1-2.3 km of line, to avail of it. Is it possible for me to get uncongested from this exchange? The digiweb line checker says NGB is not available but eir says I can get uncongested anyway. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

ADSL1 only, unlikely they'll bother upgrading those racks tbh.
    Max speed 8Mb (ADSL1)

    You're f'cked until FTTH rolls out (2017-2022).

    Thanks ED E.

This is what I thought but I wanted to double check because the 4 people who I spoke to from eir were adamant that I could get it on my line. Now it makes sense why they wouldn't provide me with details of the broadband package until I had completed the order, my guess is they were trying to tie me into a new contract.

Is there any way of getting an update as to when a cabinet will go live? The exchange locally is live but I live 4km away and im waiting on the local cabinet which is shown as planned. Eir told me last november it would be mid 2016 but there is no sign. The cabinet number is CF01_001.

    Afraid not. My village's exchange is now 12 months on from Autumn 2015, Autumn/Winter 2015, Winter/Spring 2016, Spring/Summer 2016, Summer 2016, Summer/Autumn 2016 and currently Autumn 2016.

I'm in Claremorris and have Sky Broadband Unlimited. I'm only 347m from the nearest cabinet CMS1-005 (which has been live over a year) and 1.6m (as the crow flies) from CMS1-EO1. An Eir salesman went door to door last summer offering a switch to fibre but speed promised was no better than what I currently have with Sky. He said the house would be connected to CMS1-E01 rather then the nearby cabinet. Why would that be the case?

    From digiweb:
    Exchange Code: Unknown
DSL Enabled: Yes - 15 MB
NGB Enabled: Yes - 15 MB
Fibre Enabled: Yes - 12 MB
    LLU Enabled: No

Does fibre-enabled mean that we're actually getting that? Speed fluctuates a lot, sometimes connection drops so have to tether my mobile to computer.

Oh, and the house is one of the blue lines.

But on that there's no indication of a timeframe. It just says planned under my exchange.
    Or am I missing something?
    Cabinet is LCN1_026

    Exchange is LCN1_026

That's a cabinet and not an exchange...and that cabinet is live

On the right of the map check the all box and hover over the big balloon over your local exchange

    Hi All
Been watching this thread for a long time jealous of those getting FTTC but finally KVN are running fiber from my cabinet to the exchange.

The exchange itself was enabled about a year ago.

The KVN guy said they would be finished in about 2 weeks. So question is how long does it take from fiber being run to the cabinet to actually being able to order does it take.

The Eir map has not been updated and still says fiber is planned for this cabinet
    Thanks for any help

Answered many times already: there is no timeframe, 3-24 months. KNN work is a separate task to OpenEir commissioning.

Once a cabinet/exchange has been upgraded to fibre, should the broadband speed automatically increase to a home or would I have to request from my provider to increase the speed?

Its a different product, you must order it and be present for a tech visit.

i have just ordered eir fibre as an upgrade from the copper and the technician is due Friday, the sales guy says its a new wire that i need to tell him where to put it.
Am a bit puzzled as the existing copper goes into the concrete floor and under the garden to a manhole across the road....

    What can I expect?
    Thanks

They fit a new socket in your hallway(or wherever the drop point is), cable is the same.

    Map updated @ www.fibrerollout.ie/where-and-when

Doesn't seem to be many changes bar changing those from Commenced to Live

EDIT: Certain exchanges have been changed from Autumn to Winter.
