    Hello all.

It's been a reasonably quiet week here in Boards.HQ, but we've managed to climb out from under the discarded boxes and foil from all the Easter eggs we got and do have some news to share.

First and foremost, there'll be about an hour of downtime between 7 and 8am on Saturday (6th of April) as we're upgrading our Master Database server.

We also have a couple of competitions running. You've probably seen the notice for the Sony World Photography Awards competition, but if you haven't, you can see the thread about it here on the photography forum.

We also have a Google Nexus 7 to give away from the folks at clevernotes.ie - you can find the details here on the Leaving Cert forum.

In other news, it seems that from humble beginnings with a 1.3 Civic, some of the Boardsies from the Motoring forum have got themselves a car for the ITCC. I received the following from Quazzie:

Like all the best Irish fables it came to fruition from a mad idea. Drummerboy08 and GaryITR (then of Urban Per4mance) got a notion to buy and build a track car for nothing more than a few laughs. The lads knew of a little 1.3 EG Civic that another Boardsie had for sale and after a quick phone call a deal was done. The car arrived into the workshop and sat in the corner while they gathered up parts, then on a Sunday evening over a few pints Gary piped up 'isn't there a trackday next Saturday....' So in a week, on top of the normal day jobs, the car got an engine transplant, hub conversion, fuel tank, suspension and a host of other changes! The only problem at the end of it all was what turned out to be a damaged loom and the car wouldn't start in the final hours on the Friday evening.

Unfortunately it was just after this when Urban Per4mance closed their doors for the final time, and the Civic went into storage along with Gary's red DC2 which had already started the process of turning into a race car. Not to be deterred though, the two lads stayed in touch via Boards, and with all of the upheaval it was a few months later when the boys could get sorted with a garage and all the other associated bits. Eventually in the summer of 2012 it kicked off again and in came a friend to help out in the form of another Boardsie, Quazzie, a former mechanic and all round petrol head so a fantastic addition to the enthusiasm of the two lads.

Shortly after the premises were sorted a Seat Ibiza was acquired and the subject of ITCC was thrown onto the table, so from Boards beginnings, via a junker Civic track car, the idea was born. First up the Civic was scrapped and was shortly replaced in the workshop by the former Urban Buddyclub DC2. ITCC was no longer just on the table it was what was happening, end of.

If you’re interested in following our progress both through pre-season and during race season you can like us on facebook.com/GxRRacing where there are regular updates as we get aim to get both cars ready for the season opener in Mondello on 13th/14th April.

That's all for now, as always if you have any news happening on the site, you can PM Q and we'll see about including it in Q's News.
