Are they not taking those little plastic bags anymore with the coins separated?

Ya they will take full bags but not loose coins ie if you have 20€ in change, they will not take it

    Hi guys,

Just to clarify this is just for business customers using the secure cash facility. This is to allow quicker turn around time for customers. We can only accept full bags which are fully counted and no loose coin will be accepted.

I hope this clarifies this for you.
    Thanks
    Linda

    Hi guys,

We just received an update that there are a few branches piloting the service for personal customers as well as business customers. The branches this is piloting in will accept coin lodgements on Tuesdays between 10am and 12pm and all day Fridays.

    Thank you
    Linda

Is there any chance of BOI branches getting coin sorting machines? You just put in your card and you lump your change in. counts it and applies it to your account. saw it in the netherlands...great idea.

    Hi El Spearo,

    Thanks for contacting us.

We've not been made aware of any plans for coin sorting machines.

We'll pass your suggestion to the relevant departments for consideration in upcoming developments.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

Great to see banks are accepting money.

What is the reason for this decision. What about groups who do fundraising. If they were to collect money and bring it to the bank, does that mean it won't be taken if they do not have full bags.

    Hi Dotty365,

    Thanks for posting.

As mentioned above, only full bags of coin can be accepted. We are here to answer questions regarding day to day banking and cannot go into detail on why policy changes are introduced. All feedback received here on the forum is passed on to the appropriate departments on a regular basis.

    Thanks
    Tara

Banks do not really want small customers , they don;t make enough money on them and seem them as a nuisance

This is day to day banking. What am I missing here. As a bank, you take in money. Are coins not money? As for your policies, considering the Irish people are now paying for the mistakes of the banks, don't you think an explanation should be given as to why BOI are refusing to take coins

They are taking coins dotty. All they ask is ask you to count and sort them your self. You can't really expect the counter staff to count them whilst there are people waiting in a queue.
