He's the sort of guy who could easily stand in for Alan Partridge on his military-based quiz show Skirmish on the cable channel UK Conquest.

Ah no, Har, Marian couldnt do without her national security briefing every sunday morning in the studio/war room.. Shur it's like having our own version of George Bush and Dick Cheney in there some days

Vinny, if we wanted to know about the 1913 lock out we could read Strumpet City.

fascinating all the same, listening to the way it was back then

It is very usual to be discussing this on the VB Show though  However, it would make a very interesting documentary.

I watched Strumpet City again recently and it really is excellent, it has to be one of the best mini-series ever made by RTE.

I've never seen it. Its been on my list of things to watch for years but I keep forgetting.

    I've heard its excellent.

Anyone know if its available on DVD ?

Lapin, I purchased the DVD about two months ago in Tesco for €10. It is also available for €9.99 from the RTE Shop. It's well worth getting!

Tonight Vincent discusses the "Shatter and Wallace Affair".
Will they proclaim their love for each other live on the show or have they already eloped?

I think Alan Shatter should have come out and apologised today instead of digging a bigger hole for himself. He is so bloody arrogant.

He is too arrogant to admit any wrong-doing.
The hole will get much deeper i'd say.

He might have to apologise if Billy Hawkes, Data Protection Commissioner finds that he breached the Data Protection Act, it would have been far better if he had apologised today instead.

Neither of them are saints, but Shatter needs to be brought down a peg or two

It's interesting that FG's representative on the panel tonight happens to be a lawyer too.

I'm no fan of Wallace and we're all aware of his shortcomings. However, people expect better behaviour from their Minister for Justice.

Yep, they fled aram in arm to Gretna Green when they heard the Westminster Paliament took another step closer to passing the gay marriage bill tonight !

People praise him on his knowledge of the law but he shows that he is a loose cannon at times. He comes across as very arrogant.

The Garda Commissioner should not be a political appointment either.
He is beholding to the people who appointed him and that's wrong.

Shatter has to go. Kenny saw nothing wrong with what Shatter did.

I know this is topical but,

Mrs (Moderator) D, I just got a yellow card on the Radio Forum... Is there anything you can do to get it expunged.. *nudge* *nudge* *wink* *wink*

    Now now Mr. Anon,

I've always wanted to give you a red card and here's my chance :D

Aren't you lucky that radio and television are outside my jurisdiction?

I defended Mick over not having to wear a suit in to the Dáil, but he should do a bit more than Heaton's best 8 euro sports top..

Oh my God. Soap, razor and towels also available at Heatons i'd say.
No wonder there's nobody sitting near him.

Shatter's in the shltter and will have to be flushed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,718 ✭✭✭✭JonathanAnon

Nobody comes out of this well..

    - The guard who caught Wallace on the phone, and then apparently preceded to tell everybody at the station.
    - The Commissioner for telling Alan Shatter about it.
    - Shatter, for using this information for achieving political objectives.
    - Wallace for "not recollecting" the phone call. *faceplam*
    - Niall Collins (FF) for calling on this Minister for Defence to resign... when he didnt think his own Minister for Defence swearing a false affidavit was grounds for resigning.

If Charlie is a lawyer then he's making a damn poor job of defending Shatter tonight
