So Vincent in his last programme tries to drag in Diarmuid Ferriter into controvery by suggesting to him that that there are no Protestants now attending UCD. Great that Ferriter is well able for him by responding " It's a long time now since we stopped doing analysis on the basis of peoples religions.

Well done Ferriter if you are asked to appear on this programme again, and I am sure you will be, ask them to pay pay you double the standard appearance fee as there is every hope that Browne will try and trick you into saying something "controversial " which will not help you in in your role as as a historian, he is more interested in controvery and self publicity than putting the facts on record. So once again well done to you Ferriter for not falling into his trap. Browne has a great brain and a great mind (by the way do people know the difference). So be so vigilant when invited on to his programme as he normally tries to advance his own reputation and publicize himself at the expense of his guests.
Diarmuid has appeared on VB many times at this stage, and I think he's well able to handle himself.
And I don't believe Vincent needs to enhance or publicise his own reputation. Viewers know him well by now, and, like Marmite, either love him or hate him. He's probably not bothered either way!

    Free public transport.

How the hell does he expect to pay for that ?

Its an awful idea. Without the need for competition we would be back to the days of 4 trains per day and a handful of busses on my regular route, (Galway - Dublin).

What? Michael O'Leary wants his company to make money?

    Oh, the boll*x! ;)

I was expecting a discussion about the pending ESB dispute tonight, not a high-flown debate about capitalism versus socialism,
    Even Vinny looks bored.

    This is very messy.

    Vinnie not on form tonight.

Sure haven't we already got free public transport (for a lot of citizens)

What is he raving about - Capitalists didn't invent the internet, therefore Socialism is great? When he was asked about Ryanair.

The standard of debate on this programme is in steady decline.

His critique of the Capitalist system is entirely valid. Although I'm not sure I'd trust him or his party (whatever it happens to be calling itself at any given time) to provide us with an alternative.

This is like listening to a pointless argument between a few drunks in a pub. Any chance that Vinnie might do a piece on how Marie Fleming's medical card came under review, and contrast it with the lies that Enda Kenny is continuously peddling in the Dail?

This is TV3's version of Laveline.

My heart goes out to her partner Tom Curran, he is being crucified by the HSE and the State.

Vincent conveniently ignores the fact that Ryanair was going bankrupt (trying to ape Aer Lingus's fare structure) until Michael O'Leary took over the business and re-invented it.

Basically that was a book promotion, more informative watching the shopping channel.

So the icing sugar that Nigella uses may be a special brand

Strongly reststing the temptation to crack a joke about that Man Utd plane story.

I'll hold back given their history with planes.

Although its just as well VB wasn't the pilot if his pen cam handling is anything to go by.

I have an idea on how the HSE can cut expenditure..... they can stop reviewing the medical cards of terminally ill people.

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

Hard to know if that Manchester United near miss was a genuine close-call or the Press making a sensationalist connection to their unfortunate history.

It's amazing that Caroline Morahan could find some time out from her hectic Hollywood schedule to do an ad for Littlewood's Ireland.

And, while the under-5s get free medical cards, the people who have had limbs amputated have to confirm to the HSE that their arm/leg hasn't grown back - yet.

On hold I think, she missed Ireland and decided to sacrifice her "successful" Hollywood career to return to the old sod. :pac:

The Herald is still publishing a least one story a week that an Irish "model" is flying out to LA or in discussion with Hollywood Producers about a role. Just recycling the same article since Olivia Tracey left for Hollywood stardom.

    Is that you Fionnán? ;)

I must admit that I thought I could fool you by changing the style of my writing. Fair play to you, you copped me on.

Now that there is nowhere to hide I must come clean and also tell you that I have given my good lady wife Fianna Fail Senator Avril Power clear instructions that she is never to appear on his God forsaken programme again. She knows the consequences if my order is ever violated.

At least giving her a mention here gives her a bit of publicity which she richly deserves.

Leave the beautiful Caroline alone, at least she is working and not sponging off the state.

Check some of your article's and TV slots you got over the years, that would explain a lot.

So, Regina Doherty thinks that the likes of Michael O'Leary's kids should be entitled to free GP cards ahead of patients with chronic longterm illnesses?
