That is a strange question. Someone on half a million a year, as against someone on €188 a week, discussing poverty. How is that for starters. There is many many more comparison's in relation to your question.

Sinead Ryan is really dismissive of the water meter protestors in a very bourgeois sort of way

She's still quite fanciable though :o

So it doesn't invalidate his opinions then. Grand.

The next logical conclusion would be for Neary to be prosecuted and have his obscene pension taken away from him, but is that going to happen?

    Is it fcuk.

Most non-aligned voters went for the govt. parties at the last election, believing they would bring us a new, transparent kind of politics. Yeah, right!
But people won't fall for that again.
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me"
Yes the Coalition of 48-51 was made up of smaller parties (but not independent individuals like Ming or Mick W.)
Next time, for FF and SF to make up a majority even with Independent support would mean at least a gain of 20 seats each (not going to happen) plus support of about 10 Independents. Realistically, the only sensible govt make-up would be a FG-FF Coalition, but having experienced both parties in the part few years, that's not going to either.
So it makes for an interesting post-election few weeks next time!

Noel Browne was the Ming or Wallace of his day.

Dr. Noel Browne was not an Independent TD in Costello's Inter-Party Government. He was a member of Sean McBride's 'Clann na Poblachta'

True, but he was still an unusual character for the time.

Oh and sorry, Dr. Noel Browne.

Gerry Breen has a smug self-importance about him.

I thought the topic was whether it's worth voting in local elections?

This seems like the usual spiel between the parties
