The GAA has some strange hold on the country and even the SF candidate couldn't oppose giving it money.

Looks like it ! Bertie"s largesse to Croke Park repeated on a lesser scale now to Cork by the current crowd ! Can never understand how these type of projects can take precedence over health, welfare and community services. Ditto funding to Aviva Stadium etc. Never stood in any of these stadia and no wish to !

It more than likely boils down to the getting of votes.

So because you have no interest in something, it shouldn't recieve support? Good old begrudgery is alive and well.

I'm really fed up of the health services being cited as a reason not to invest money elsewhere. You could throw 10 times the budget for Pairc Uí Caoimh at hospitals and it wouldn't improve healthcare by a jot.

Croke Park has regenerated more far revenue for this country than any amount of taxpayers money spent on the place and Lansdowne Road looks set to do the same. A redeveloped Pairc Uí Caoimh will be no different.

Spending money on any GAA ground in a time the damming ERSI report about the impact on poorer families, comes to light, is absolutely disgusting. Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't the GAA do a deal recently with Sky Sports? They already get massive sponsorship, therefore they are a commercial entity. This money could be better spent on the most vunerable in society.

This is horrific stuff but why is it only coming out now ?

This doctor speaking about alleged Garda abuse in stations should be treated with a large pinch of salt. He has an axe to grind against the gardai. See link below

As per my comment, that doctors claims should be treated with a large pinch of salt.

Some crazy allegations in the wake of the Guerin report about the gardai

    Why.

You'd wonder why they're only coming out now. People jumping on the bandwagon springs to mind. People with axes to grind against the gardai see it as a good opportunity to get a dig in.

I'm sure there's an element of that. But there's a fair amount of this stuff.

This does not mean his accusations are untrue.

I thought Vinnie was going to be interviewing Carla from Coronation Street when I switched on at 11pm.

No. But it casts a doubt on them. Why is he waiting until now to come out with his allegations.

I have no heed in the Smithwicks Inquiry at all.
Loads of money spent and then they come up with an assumption and no proof whatsoever. Too many holes in that inquiry.

Didn't he say he contacted Shatter to no avail.

It is the first time to let people have a platform, before this the embedded media controlled the scene. remember the heavy gang, and all the other actions the low life embedded so called jurnos failed the people.

It doesn't cast any doubt on the accusations. You must be a Garda supporter.

With this and the stuff coming out about the Garda Reserves on Liveline, there's got to be a complete overhaul of the Garda Siochana, including equipping the GSOC Office with proper teeth.
