Michael McDowell will be back in the Dáil again I'd say.

He wouldn't be my cup of tea, but surprisingly, he talks a lot of sense (sometimes)

I'm glad Michael McDowell is putting himself forward as the poster-boy for keeping the Seanad. This should ensure the vote in favour of abolition should have a comfortable majority.

Imagine being at a dinner party with Shatter and McDowell, two gigantic egos, it could be fun :D

Total waste of money. I'm going to vote in favour of abolition so that Marie Louise O'Donnell can concentrate on her broadcasting career and Eamon Coghlan can concentrate on his running.

Its funny, Harry, but I always said that I would vote for its abolition, because I regarded as nothing more than a talking shop. But, it seems that EK is very anxious for to have it abolished, so I will vote no just because he wants it gone.

Vinny is rushing the newspaper preview again, I'm not happy :(

Hmmm perhaps I'm the only one who thinks they should drop the newspaper previews altogether?

Ah, I like to have some idea of what I'll be waking up to the following morning :o

Vinny needs to give it sufficient time ( about 15 minutes) or drop it altogether.

Sam's bad, but I'm going to watch to see how Norris justifies the retention of the Senate, given how he's elected.

I'm not a fan of Gerard Colleran but when he presented the show last summer, he did an excellent job.

Isn't public speaking important if you're going to be a politician?

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,351 ✭✭✭✭Harry Angstrom

Even though Sam is starting late tonight, I bet he'll still do a decent newspaper review ;)

Just came across this on Youtube.
Chris Morris Jam crossed with VB basically.

    Made me laugh anyway.

David's autobiography has just been released on paperback, I wonder will he give it a cheeky plug ;)

Michael McDowell had ample time in government to reform the Seanad, but he wanted to abolish it. Now he wants to retain it. He's had more flip flops than Judith Chalmers.

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,585 ✭✭✭✭Lady Chatterton

i reckon some Labour TDs want to retain the Seanad so they have some where to go after they lose their Dáil seats at the next General Election.

Ah Harry, it's another case of ......... 'on mature recollection' ;)

It seems to me that the only people in favour of retaining The Seanad are political hacks, the chattering classes and the Senators themselves (surprise surprise).

All these backbenchers need to be done away with. They're irrelevant.

Moloney has put his glasses on now to look intelligent.
