quick camper conversion question

    if you convert a minibus in the private taxation class
    ie a vw caravelle privately taxed (not commercial).

    i know i have to send my paper work to revenue but will I have to pay tax

    ps its a diy conversion

    As far as I know , if you want to register your conversion as a campervan for insurance or road tax purposes you need to pay Vehicle Registration Tax ( VRT )
    This will be 13.5% of the value that the Revenue put on your vehicle.
    Dont bother asking asking anyone from Revenue how they come to a valuation of your vehicle . This is a well gaurded secret that there appears to be no logical answer.

    Any vrt already paid is offset against the calculation.

    A minibus will already have VRT paid,so nothing will be due.

    As said above, you won't need to pay VRT if you are using a Caravelle as
    your base for the conversion. Only conversions based on commercial vehicles
    need pay the extra VRT.
