Hey just wondering has anybody any advice on this issue,
My brothers van was left into our mechanic to get an egr valve replaced at the end of january and after he got the van back it was in a terrible state which the mechanic assured us was the norm and it needed to be driven to clear all black smoke out, he was charged 240-280 euros for valve and labour.this same mechanic cleaned out original egr valve in late november and van was perfect afterwards. He told us we needed injectors tested, turbo tested etc and finally in March a different mechanic told us the plug on the egr valve was faulty and a pin connector was snapped inside which was showing up as a computer fault on dash which put van into limp mode (loss of power) and the black smoke as the valve wasnt working properly. WE brought valve back to mechanic who fitted it and said he didnt break it and sent it off to motor factors for "testing" Good Friday and are awaiting results but we ll know the valve is F*cked. However the mechanic is not owning up to breaking it and we are afraid now the motor factors are going to screw us out of valve and we will have to fork out for a new one due to either the mechanics fault or an actual factory fault in valve. I was just wondering has any1 else been in this situation and who can we call for help to tackle this to help us not get screwed,
    cheers:)
    van is 05 1.5 kubistar
