    Hi,

Newbie here to gardening and enthusiastically planted a load of vegetables in mid March. We then had two freezing weeks and a week of storms.

The stuff that I had propagated indoors appears to have survived (peas, strawberries and sweetcorn) but most of my stuff is still underground (potatoes, french beans, herbs, runner beans, barlotti beans, lettuces, rocket).

Are they all dead? Should I give them another while to show their faces or should I just bite the bullet and start again?

Pretty knackered I'm afraid! Spuds are ok, its way too early for the rest of them though.

Don't feel bad, it's a common story this year. Most things are way behind. Weather is due to pick up soon so just start again now. It would haven been too early for French beans btw so nothing lost there.

So, should I be propagating things indoors for the next few weeks or should I be planting seeds?

If you have the space I'd be starting off what I could indoors. This year seems to be the year that forgot spring :(
At least then once you plant outside then you're off to a head start.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Start some stuff off indoors in modules now, to plant out later. This will give you a head start. It wont be long till the soil warms up enough to get sowing seeds direct. You can help it warm up by covering it in black plastic. Some say clear plastic :) But black makes more sense to me.
