    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/04/08/japanese_dream_reader_maps_brain/
By linking the brain-mapping data with these verbal reports, the boffins were apparently then able to build an algorithm capable of predicting with 60 per cent accuracy the content of dreams
    ...
plans are afoot to further refine the dream-reader, as well as extend it to map smells, emotions and entire stories, and possibly in time plumb the depths of REM sleep
it's early days so you can't record your dreams, yet

talk about a lie detector test, wait until the suspect falls asleep and gotcha

maybe we could find out if dogs really chase rabbits

Freud would have a field day.

But if you had the chance to record someone's dreams how much would you blackmail them to keep it quiet ?

Don't know what the point of reading dreams is,it could be usefull for people can't speak for whatever reason.

According to the dream detector the suspect did indeed kill the victim after he turned into a lizard with four snakes in place of a head. His accomplice was an 8ft tall pink bunny rabbit who police are now looking for.

    op said/alluded to it

blackmail baby yeah!......people stitch together random memories/experiences etc into a somewhat coherent storyline

some of these may not be blackmailable some maybe useful in terms of sensitive information...dreamer cheating etc etc

find a way to read a dream with accuracy then perhaps you can find a way to manipulate the dream itself to follow a path you want to find out more about the dreamer/his company/secrets etc he would never want you to know

leaving that out inducing pleasant dreams could be a business in itself...who wouldn't want to dream they are in paradise with not a care in the world and be willing to pay for that feeling of happiness however fleeting...it would be better than a hell of a lot of (if not all) drugs when considered in the round

could be therapeutic in terms of finding out whats troubling a person due to traumas in the past and could be more effective than hypnotic regression

.....there really are lots of potential applications, beneficial and harmful and nearly all money making imo

    all very inceptiony

but it looks far from being viable at the moment and looks like it could take a very long time to get to the point where you can read one accurately never mind manipulate one subtly with any degree of certainty imo......

It's a fact. They started doing it after the Twinkie was reportedly invented by a fat man having a wet dream.

They can't let technology like that be invented by non-Jews. It'll undermine their plans for world domination!!

    OPEN YOUR MIND GOD DAMNIT!

They've been working on this for a while. A video came out last year (I think) showing a machine reading brainwaves - subjects were watching a video, then the machine was scanning their brainwaves and trying to recreate the video, with surprising accuracy.

Theoretically it's relatively simple. Initially it's a lot like a jigsaw - you have a picture, so you know what it's supposed to look like and you have all the pieces (the brainwaves), you just have to figure out how to put the pieces together to recreate the picture.

Eventually after doing a few millions jigsaws, you become good enough at it to be able to put jigsaws together without the picture on the box.

The main issue will be most likely that no two individuals brains will work in exactly the same way, and that we don't imagine or dream very lucidly. We focus on shapes and colours, but we tend to lose the details. So dreams on a screen will probably be quite fuzzy and vague.
