Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Occasionally they'd show a biscuit or choc ice production line - that was class. Rare though.

Sunday afternoons listening To Fab Vinnie on MT USA-when I should have been studying for the Leaving'.

Regularly skipping last class at school to watch the Irish soccer team's qualifying campaign for the '84 and '86 European/World cup -class.

Thursday nights at The End in the Phoenix Park,Sunday nights at Club Nassau bouncing to The Waterboys, weekly house parties.

    The Princess Bride,Ferris Bueller,Top Gun,Platoon.....
    Leg warmers and Fame wannabes!

When a kiss or a shift led to a date, and not a big dilemma as to whether or not you were "in a relationship".

    Best decade ever.

And the agony when the DJ spoke at the start of the song and cut in at the end. It could take 5 or 6 attempts to get the perfect copy.

I'm going to go with the election of '81. A gang of us queuing at the Fine Gael caravan each getting a sticker and some of the lads even got a bit of a roll with 3 or four stickers on it. Then running off up to the FF caravan and getting some of those flat cardboard hats in green and white that you put on and it spiraled up from the outside to fit your noggin. Espania '82 and hot summers in Youghal and Garretstown, and being painted from head to toe in calamine lotion after spending 10 hours in the baking sun wondering why you were itchy.
    They were still sh"t though.

Yeah and then 3 days later you had to stick a pencil in the cassette hole (giggiddy) and twirl it to fix the tape.

    I loved that mini!
I remember my folks leaving a hotel after a wedding and driving home (it was the 80's) and next day they realised they'd driven the wrong mini home.

Can those that were adults in the 80s please confirm weather or not the Summers were better in the 80s?

    I was 7 to 17 in the 80's.

83 was hot, I got the measles and missed most of August. 85 was so bad that the primary school kids were given an extra week off when it improved in September. I'd just started secondary. The rest are just a blur.

My dad regularly falling asleep to MT-USA blaring on Sunday afternoon.

Layers of shoulder pads-wearing a t-shirt, cardigan and coat with them all at once. I looked like an American footballer.

Charles and Di's wedding-big if you were an eight year old girl. Dressing your Sindy in a tissue paper 'wedding dress' and fifty foot net curtain veil. Finally getting a Barbie, which was so much cooler than Sindy.

Cameras with a foldout case that became a handle and took 110 film, with cubic disposable flash bulbs.

The excitement of getting your first digital watch.

Vaguely remember some radio presenter discussing the Back to The Future movies and saying that one day the 80s would seem like the greatest decade ever and thinking ah, that'll never happen....
