    2. Will Irish Driving licsences be sufficent ID
    3. (Tongue firmly in cheek)- Are the women easy to pull in comparison to here.

    1. Not really, unless you don't want to go anywhere. Public transport does exist, but isn't great.
    2. Passport would be better. As it's kinda touristy, most places will accept it.
    3. Like Ireland, depends on the woman and where you go...

Santa Monica is a neighbourhood of LA and is probably one of the most pedestrian friendly, there's also Venice Beach right next to it to the south. but they're just neighbourhoods.

You could probably pass 2-3 days without leaving but you'd want to see more of LA and that would mean (shudder) public transport. Just be careful which areas you go through.

You could do guided tours of the rest of the city though. there's every different price range and genre; Your hotel would have details.

San Francisco is a more pedestrian friendly City.

I would say you need a car. After a day or so you will get cabin fever. Plus some of the food options are in strip malls off the main roads so you will struggle to access them on foot.

You'll have passports anyway to get into America so why would you rely on driving licences. I've had police in various states (including California) ask for other ID as the licences (unless you have a new fancy one) look like they're too easy to fake.

As for your third question. Women in California are intelligent too :D
