It's called the exceptional need payments JOE. Nothing exceptional or unexpected about communion or confirmation is there?

"People should live within their means"

One very short sentence sums this whole thing up

The Magdalene Laundry victims deserve to have their say.

As do all other victims of the loving and caring Catholic Church priests and nuns.

But Liveline is no longer the place for it.

I've said this before - A public service broadcaster like RTÉ should have a dedicated programme for them at least once a month.

Because bringing up the same stories of victims being mistreated, shat on and abused invites an understandable degree of 'victim fatigue' among listeners.

I already feel disgusted about the way these women were treated and I don't need further reminding about it.

Our Taoiseach has apologised to them on behalf of the state.

I'm now getting a bit fed up of them and I don't want to feel that way.

I know what they went through puts my own problems into perspective (and they make the burger guy yesterday sound like a bigger gobshíte than he already was), but I've heard enough at this stage.

Abolition of first holy communion grants now. One good thing I will applaud the current government for.

No, there will be someone on from the Licenced Vintners telling us about drastic loss of business, jobs gone etc etc.

    The apology is utterly hollow.

The women are not getting what they really need.

Two well delivered, balanced opinions against Joes stance. I think thats the end of the topic for today.

I think St V. de P agreeing with this move, to the surprise of Joe, is they are seeing people in need every single day. People who are living on single euros per day, and so this discretionary payment of 100 euro for what amounts to a party for people who don't want a party is obviously seen as wasteful.

I think the type of Liveline we are having on any given day can be summed up by Joe's expressions on the day
Joe says "the wonderful wonderful......" Sh**e Liveline
Joe says "would ya get a grip...get a griippp" absolute classic liveline

No-one supporting Joes opinion. Even the St V de P are in favour of the cut, so yep, end of topic. Not enough outrage out there.

    Back to the mew-seeem.
