Delighted methanol poisoning in Indonesia will be discussed today. It is still happening in Bali and some of the other smaller islands and is probably a result of both a) poor distilling and b) adding methanol deliberately to make it stretch further. It's usually only mentioned in official warnings as only affecting arak but people have died from all kinds of cocktails and 'sealed' bottles of spirits too. This almost certainly claimed the life of my friend and boardsie Rozabeez whose second anniversary occurs tomorrow but she is unlikely to be mentioned as there was an open verdict. Please listen up though and get anyone heading there to listen too!!

Happened in the Czech Republic only 9 months ago. 38 people died.

Methanol poisoning can be treated with ethanol(alcohol).

As he said though, if you're on a remote island, only a doctor would know the right dosage.

She was poisoned with methanol. It wasn't on purpose, but its unclear whether it was in the food chain as a result of poor distillation, or from people adding it to spirit bottles to 'cut' or spread out alcohol.

It started happening in 2009 and is still happening, a British student died 2 weeks ago; she bought a bottle of gin and when she fell ill she was in the middle of a jungle.
