    this nut job.

How does this work with people who have jobs here? Resign? Go away for 15 months, come back again, no job = welfare?

Is your solicitor working for free ? I don't think he/she's in it for the love of your family.

So your advocating the following, you get a mortgage for whatever amount for whatever term. The property is worth less than you purchased it but it doesn't matter because the mortgage is still the same as what it was when you took it out.

And you think you should run from this mortgage ? It's idea like this that encompasses the model hazard issue which is delaying any sort of movement in this problem much to the disadvantage to people who are in real financial trouble.

There is of course personal responsibility for paying back what you took out. But if i was in neq equity for an amount like 200k then I would definetly consider this. As I said you need to look after yourself in this life sometimes.

Everybody can own a calculator. They can do the sums. Taking out a mortgage out is a legal commitment not to be entered into lightly. Only adults can take mortgages out for a reason. People have to accept responsibility for there own actions and accept that its not always somebody else's fault.

But my point is if you're planning on living there anyway, or keeping it in order to use it as a rental property, it doesn't make a difference what the negative equity is.

"My mortgage is hundreds of thousands but I owe them tens of thousands".

You owe them hundreds of thousands PLUS your arrears of tens of thousands.
