Yes but if we didn't bail them out we would have had no banks then society breaks down even further, not in agreement with it but lesser of two evils

It may have been the lesser of two evils but it has given the impression that if the banks dont have to accept the responsibility for being stupid then the ordinary person thinks then it should be ok for them.

The banks have not been punished for what they did and now are not being as compassionate as they should be for the problems that they caused, thats why people are moaning and annoyed and why Joe here loves it.

Makes no sense, she said she paid off the mortgage but had an early payment penalty, so wanted to hand back the keys ?

I think you are over-estimating the power that the church wield in Ireland, especially when it comes to politicians.

I just think the gay marriage issue is way down the priority list, nothing else sinister.

Fair enough but i think your being very naive, yes the churches power has waned but when enough morons still put down RC on the census so the figure is 80% its hardly a figure the government can ignore and the church isnt gonna let them ignore it either

There are still a lot of people in this country who vote according to their faith, FG don't want to be known as the party that introduced gay marriage and abortion as it will lose votes. Or at least that is what they are afraid of. Sure a lot of the FG party members are personally anti marriage equality and abortion so they have no personal interest in pushing it forward.

I fully agree with you by the way, my point is that only naive people would think that the banks would be sympathetic to them despite what we the general public have done for the Banks

    OMG €30,000 interest arrears!!!

What was wrong with people that thought they could borrow hundreds of thousands and not have to pay it back? I know some people got caught with small personal loans, redundancy etc, but not hundreds of thousands, madness

Most insurance policies only refuse to pay out on suidcide in the first year and a day of the policy having been taken out. If the policy was older than that then there's no issue.

Think this lady's tale contradicts that

That woman is working 70 hrs a week compared with 6 for Joe and 4 fot Marian.

Should a person who loses someone from "dying by suicide" get different treatment from someone who dies by natural causes or by accident ?

    'I've got a great family'

Joe 'Well Done'..Is he just trying to use up his quota of stock phrases before the show ends?

Insurance companies regard it as something similar to setting fire to your house and then claiming insurance. It is regarded as a deliberate act and not an accident or natural occurence. It is written into the policy.

Unfortunately this country is full of naive people and even more unfortunately is that we had some of the most naive stupid people running the country and the banks went in and conned them.

Mooney on about Tits and Teapots.

Here's what I had to say about the fúcking teapot on the Marian Finnucane thread yesterday -

I'm getting a bit tired of all the stories stemming from that blasted teapot that Haughey presented to Thatcher now.

It seems that nobody who was present at the time can recall the importance of the meeting between the two leaders but everyone enjoys a little titter at Charlie's crafty ingenuity in presenting Maggie with a teapot she couldn't use. (People who normally treat Haughey with the same disdain we've seen reserved for Thatcher this week).

I doubt Thatcher gave a damn about it and it was probably forgotten within an hour of the summit while she was busy running or ruining the world depending on your opinion.

Meanwhile 30 odd years later we're still giggling over a frigging teapot.
