There may have been other reasons they didn't pay out - if he had been receiving treatment for depression and didn't disclose it (or some other "material fact", as they like to call them) when taking out the policy, they may refuse to pay out.

Each life company probably has its own exclusion policy, I guess. All I can say is that on the policy I took out many moons ago, suicide isn't a reason not to pay out as long as the policy was over a year old.

    Dobbo might ring in

    http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/tv-radio/heres-the-news-ill-never-jump-ship-says-rtes-dobson-29198212.html

God if i was dobbo I'd be seriously pissed 200k for reading the news and I presume journalism...whereas 300k for joe to answer the phone.

I love the last quote "I love that variety and change. It means you dont take work home with you because you don't know what's coming," he added.

Betcha dont see our Joe doing that either. Mrs Duffy gets him all to herself and not a worry in the world

I predict an unbearable show today.

Joe:"Mary from Clontarf. You were in Boston?"
    Mary:"Yes Joe"
Joe:"What did you think of it Mary?"
Mary:"I didnt like it Joe. It was very busy"
    Joe:"Busy Mary?
    Mary:"Yes Joe"
    Joe:"In what way Mary"
    Mary:"Lots of traffic and people"
Joe:"And when were you there Mary?"
Mary:"Let me see now, 1922 Joe"
    Joe:"WOW... WOW..."

Joans daughter was in California once, she's a nurse a front line worker and couldn't afford sky plus so had to listen to the bombing on the wireless

What Joe would really love is someone who survived the Boston Bomb, the 9/11 Attack and the sinking of the Belgrano to ring him on the other line! :D

Line 3 - Pascal, who visited Boston for a weekend shopping trip and managed to pick up a heavy Bostonian accent:

    ".....these are my people, Joe...."

"...no Joe, you rang me !..." A.Caller.

Given the amount of Irish people in Boston, I doubt the people Joe calls today will have as tenuous a link with the place as some have predicted above.

Not that that makes today's programme any less predictable or meaningless.

Joe covers these type of events with a sickening emotion overdose and usually rounds up a call by telling the caller to "mind themselves".

I hope to fúck he doesn'y have one of those Cilla Black type moments where he puts Mammy back home in Ireland in touch with her son or daughter in Boston.

A tenner says we hear about the brave fire brigade before 2 o clock.

    Here we go....

boring...switching off now...feel sorry for the people affected but really is not a topic for this show and definitely not parochial enough for most of the listnership I would imagine

Heard all this many times on news programs already. What is this adding to the story? This man was miles away!

How many times will Joe mention the RA / Sinn Féin / Eirigí with some sort of analogy?
