Im looking for my first ever pair of waders. Not sure what Im after. Hopefully something around the 150 mark. I mainly fish rivers for brown trout, mostly probably be wading in waters just a few inches over my knees.

Any recommendations on what I should be looking for.

Cheap neoprenes
I don't see the value in breathables
Plus they only last a couple of years anyway

I hear those neoprenes would kill ya with heat if theres any bit of sun out. Is that true?

If you're only going above your knees get thigh waders. Something like these

They are warm
But I don't find them too bad as I'm in and out of the water

Snowbee neoprenes are grand, I've had mine nearly six years and only after getting a leak in them now. It's at the join from the neoprene to the boot so might be able to seal it. I've used them in salt and fresh water, mostly salt. Just make sure to hose them down after each use especially after salt. You can get a neoprene detergent for wetsuits too and wash it with that once in a while.
I've the chest waders, you would be warm on sunny days and can sweat a bit in them so just wear a t-shirt and possibly go commando. :eek:
Don't forget a life vest.

After four seasons when my breathable waders finally gave up the ghost I bought a pair of Ocean PVC waders for €50 although not as comfy as the breathables they are bombproof & I'm sure I'll get years out of them
