What or who is making this hole?

Hi, something keeps digging a hole in my garden. For the last couple of years every so often we have noticed a hole appearing around the same area in the garden, its about 5" x 5" in diameter. We have a cat and a dog, who are alway sniffing the area. We have put poison into the hole, put rocks into is and still it keeps appearing - we have also tried to fill it with with, but it seems never ending, there is only the one hole, there seems to be no end to it either. Would anyone have any idea what it could be and how we can get rid of it??

I reckon its a rat. i would pour post mix or concrete into it or get a rat trap near it.

hi, thanks for that, ill try the cement but there doesnt seem to be an end to the hole, i cant put a trap near it as i have a cat and dog
