Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I watched the match and if not for Messi then Barcelona would have been out tonight, he had to come on injured to help wil them the game
If you put Messi in any of the top 5 teams in any league then that team would win their league, in Premiership take Arsenal if they had Messi they would win the Premiership etc,

They're not as good without the greatest player of all time? No shít!

Of course his absence has a huge impact. Everything goes through Messi and there's nobody else like him so there's no way of even semi replacing him.

Without Messi they go from being an exceptional side to a very good one. You can hardly use it as a criticism, it's just a fact!

Send him to Shels, and AM would sort him out...either way ;)

The other 10 on the team are robbing a living off his back Bill.

Yep, that's why Spain never win anything

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

FYP. a 3 month injury to Messi would answer a few questions though, likewise Ronaldo at Madrid. both have great teams, but they seem to rely too much on them, however we are talking about 2 of the greatest players of all time.

Argentina didn't win a major trophy in a few years, did they? ;)

It seems they are far too reliant on him considering the amazing talent they have in their team. That's my early impression, might just have been an off night for them, though.

World cup is far cry from best league in the world, and remember he was injured just like Tiger when he won a Major, so far ahead it unreal , of course no way of ever getting him to play for Arsenal but if he did they would win Premiership and maybe CL, the rest of Barcelona looked very ordinary
NB Spain had to play against some great teams:) like Ireland to win Euro's

I dont think Barcelona are a one man team, but they do rely on Messi too much. They have a fantastic squad

Taking Messi out of any team would have a massive impact. IMO, it's less a criticism of Barcelona and more an illustration of just how good Messi is.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Because Spain (a team without Messi), with a team made up mostly (sometimes almost entirely) of Barcelona players are dreadful and haven't won a thing with this generation of footballers....

    Spain have Torres...same thing

He's still not good enough for this keeper...

The best player in the world would greatly improve any team - of course
Any top 5 team would win with him added - Well him at Argentina hasn't equaled a mass throphy haul but (club level) who knows
Are Barca too reliant on him - Maybe but we can discuss that elsewhere like their own thread
Could this thread if kept open be filled with "funny" gifs and retorts making fun of peoples opinions - sadly you would think so

    thread closed
