    Well picked one of these up on pre-order:)
    4035CBA0-F7A6-4899-9636-5F7B4CF1BBE9-11200-0000062E6CAD38FD_zps45ef394a.jpg

    A lovely looking CQB AEG, very nice too handle and well balanced.
    Externals are pretty solid.
    9EF5DECD-AA8B-4676-BAA8-984B86FF24A6-11200-0000062E7508B2F4_zps2f283edb.jpg

    This arrived from the UK but was firing a good bit over our limit. I swapped out the spring for a Systema 1 joule spring and the AEG was now firing at 324fps.
    But this is one slow firing AEG. I have never been a fan of the Magpuls internal setups. Much more suited to higher fps limits.

    There pistons are pretty strong, I have personally tested them and only destroyed one when I got to the very high 400+ fps.

    The AEG comes apart very easily, 3 bolts and the top lifts off;

    The barrel and hop is held on with a plate and 4 small screws;

    There is a small push pin that holds the hop and inner barrel into the outer, simply push it all pops apart. Now the hop rubber is too hard for me so I replaced it with a smooth Prometheus hop rubber. This rubber has no mound inside and seals nicely. I replaced the inner barrel with a Guarder 6.02 300mm one. (It should be a 280mm but I didn't have one to hand).
    Now the nub is built into the hop unit and seems to work OK. I hope to range test later in the week.

    The gear box pops out by removing 4 screws and a plate at the front of the AEG that holds the trigger and mag release push rods in place.

    The gear box slides up and out with no obstructions then.
    Right hand side of the GB, the push rod on this side operates the mag catch;

    Left hand side of the GB, the push rod operates the 2 stage trigger;

    This is what the inside of the GB looks like, please note the total lack of grease on the gears, yet the cylinder was smothered in grease. One shim was lying there damaged and not where it was meant to be.

    Horrible cheap ass piece of crap motor.

    Right while it was open I decided to change it a little.
    -It is now fitted with a Systema standard torque short motor.
    -Systema rear vented cylinder
    -Azimuth half metal/half plastic tooth piston
    -AOE sorted with spacer and sorbo pad
    -Systema 1 Joule spring
    -Modify vented piston head
    -Systema lightweight helical gear set and ARL

    Now to start with I fitted a Systema half tooth piston, but after a few shots the back of the piston broke off. The piston was half a millimeter longer than the standard, not sure whether this was an issue or it was just a bad piston.

    I decided to not take a chance so I have short stroked it by one tooth.
    It is firing at 320fps using Blaster .2s on an Xcortech chrono and it is doing 17 a second with this tiny battery.

    I also switched out the Tamiya connecter for a mini deans.

    I have fitted a small barrel adapter and a zombie killer amplifier to hide the slightly longer inner barrel.

    Happy with it for now, will range test it later in the week:D

    Tested it this morning.
    Firing at a nice 320 and 17.5 bbs a second.
    The range is as good as most of my aegs.

    The hop has to be turned on a good bit before it actually starts to have any effect. This is down to the hop rubber not having a hump in and the fact that the nub is built into the hop unit itself. Once the hop engages it is a very similar pattern to the SCS nubs.

    Really nice review mate, Thanks for going to the trouble of doing it.

    Never saw the internals before, was taken aback the gears were in a linear formation like on a saw/m60 gearbox.

    Just out of couriosity, was the spring guide that was on it with the quick release a bearing one or an ordinary non bearing version.

    Sorry for the question but curiosity got the better off me.

    Thanks,

    DP

    Thanks for the kind words matey.

    It is indeed a bearing spring guide as standard:-)
    I have just been firing it to test mags.
    Really am pleased with it now.
    Mag wise it feeds on;
    MAG mids
    Lonex mags
    Magpul M-mags
    Magpul E-mags

    Troublesome mags are;
    Magpul p-mags
    Madbul Lancer mags

    P-mags are a very tight fit and as such I wouldn't use them in it.
    Lancer mags feed fine on auto but can iccadionallh misdeed on semi:-(

    That is good news about the battery!

    At least you got it in:-)
    Maybe you could grind a little more of the outer barrel?

    Well Skirmished the PDR properly at the weekend.
    Very pleased with it. Decent range for the barrel length.
    The hop has to be turned on a good bit, mainly due to the moundless hop rubber.
    Plenty of kills:p

    Two small negatives are the battery only lasted for 2 games (roughly 2000 rounds used). A bit more bbs than I would normally go through, but I wanted to work the PDR. (I have 5 batteries arriving for it)
    The second is I think the hop wheel is movin a little as the gun is being fired. I found that the hop wheel is not the tightest fit.
    I will try a slightly larger o'ring to see if that helps.

    Over all very pleased with it:D

    A small up date.

    I have found 3 different size batteries that fit nicely.
    (sorry I haven't the links to hand at the minute)

    I found that the hop doesn't keep its adjustment too well. There is an o'ring that stops the wheel adjuster from moving out of place. I have put 2 other o'rings in the section next to the existing one and tis is stopping it from moving on its own now.

    One small fault, the semi stopped working correctly:mad:
    On inspection the spring that pulls the plate had snapped.
    The spring is extremely weak. I have replaced the spring with a standard V2 trigger block spring (much stronger). It works perfectly again:D

    Well the lovely guys at WiiTech have made a nice little barrel adapter for the PDR-c.
    (Found by DP- thanks matey)

    Shipping as normal from WiiTech (on eBay) took 10 days:-)

    The adapter is very well made and nicely powder coated.

    Any updates on this a year on?

    Curious on these compared to other similar compact guns.

    Unfortunately not as I haven't been giving it much use.:o
    One of the small springs broke on the outside of the gearbox which is part of the cut off system. An original couldn't be located online:mad:

    I have tried a couple of different types of springs, but they are not up to the job. One was simply not strong enough and the other was a bit too wide and kept catching on the main receiver.

    So it has been put into my longer finger pile!

    What implications does this have on it?
    No semi? Or?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,532 ✭✭✭Rooky1

    The present spring worked great for around 1500 semi shots but now just isn't strong enough.
    Semi is now a hit or miss affair.
    An original spring is stronger but seems a little brittle as well. But I can't find one to be bought. Saying that I haven't looked in a couple of months either.
