Anti-relationship professions?

Pighead was browsing through the farming forum as he always does at this time on a Thursday afternoon when a thread caught his eye and stopped him in his tracks.

A girl had just started dating a farmer and she was asking the forum for advice/ warnings about her new special bogger friend.

She was obviously a bit wary about how his profession could affect their relationships and it got Pighead thinking 'Hmmm, Pighead is there any profession out there that you would not like a would be girlfriend to be in?'

Thought about it for several minutes and eventually came up with politician. Politicians are generally hated by at least half the populace and it would be tough for Pighead to listen to the dissenters in the pub spewing bile about the woman he loves.

Being a man of honour, Pighead would be forced to challenge the bile spewers to a duel and although the duel would undoubtedly be won by yours truly this poster doesn't really want to spend his remaining fifty years on this planet punching people in the face.

So are there any professions which you would immediately cross off your list when hunting for future partners?

Teachers, for the pure reason I think I'd flip out if my other half had three whole months off and I had to go to work.

civil servant ...oh the shame of people judging your partner based on his/her job ...regardless of it they are one of the few that actually do the work.

Anyone self employed !! - it would be like a battle between you and their job !! ,....and their job would come first on some occasions.

Good one. Do you have a limit on the crapness of the programme? For instance if you were in a nightclub in 1989 and you met Fidelma from Glenroe would you instantly strike her off your 'To Do' list?

Well as I would have been a wee nipper in 1989, I didn't have the mental maturity to strike anyone off my 'To Do' list :D

Shocking attitude in fairness. As a loving partner you should embrace anything that makes your fluffy bunny a happier person. You don't deserve to fall in love with a teacher. Sorry for being so harsh but your post made Pighead's blood boil.

I know a female safety officer. She gets fierce attention on building sites I'd imagine. If you were the jealous type you'd find it hard for the love of your life being surrounded by horny tradesmen all day.

Some men might like that. All depends on the trust levels. If you trust that she would never stray then a lot of men would be ok with the idea that loads of other men were drooling over one of their possessions.

Anything that invoves travel. Pain the ass getting into a routine and then having to feck off somehwere for a week or so again.

Oh, and anything in the entertainment industry if gossip columns are anything to go by.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Not a particular job but something that would make a relationship difficult to get off the ground would be being on different rotas - ie one on weekdays 9-5 and the other working evenings and weekends or nights.

Not having time off together would put a strain on any relationship.

Once she's loaded, open-minded about my fidelity and lets me loose on our bank a/c I don't give a toss what she gets up to from one end of the week to the next.
    A modern man I am.

The huge todger in his underpants says different. No idea where you are getting your erroneous info. That rumour stops here and now. Pighead expects an apology by 3pm.

Sorry Mr. Pighead, I read "a girl" as "Pighead" in your OP.

    Forgive me.

Nothing springs to mind, but I'd hate to be with a workaholic. My last OH was one and the fact that he measured his worth by his (not exactly pressurised) job was highly unattractive. Him being late/too busy to go anywhere due to work got old very fast.

Have to agree with the OP. Most politicians are horrid people who spend so much time backstabbing and sucking up. Generally to the same person.

    Pighead's officially lost.

Thread title= Which profession would put you off entering a relationship with person in said profession?
You replied 'Working with or for my partner'.
Pighead asks why you wouldn't work for your partner.
You say you do work for your partner.

Brain spinning here Oryx. Help Pighead out.

Wow, didnt think that was possible.
Thread title= Which profession would put you off entering a relationship with person in said profession?
Any profession which means you spend all day working with the person you also date/live with.
Pighead asks why you wouldn't work for your partner.
You spend all day working with the person you date/live with. Home life and work life merge... you bring your personal issues to work, and your work issues home.
You say you do work for your partner.
    Mine is a cautionary tale.

I think professional musician. As much as I find a musical girl very attractive I don't think I could handle them being off travelling and gigging while I sit at my desk IT'ing away all day.
