West Coast Roadtrip

Hey,

I'm planning a road trip for around a month and wanted to get a few recommendations of places to see and things to do. Our current rough plan is:

Head off from Seattle, down through Oregon to San Fran for a few days. Then down the coast and inland to Las Vegas.

Now this is where our plan ends, we're not sure how best to return to Seattle. Currently thinking maybe head to Utah to Canyonland Nation Park then up to Yellowstone and back to Seattle.

Does anyone have any suggestions of places which we definitely should see? Or definitely should avoid?

We're heading in April/May as well, so some areas (like Yellowstone National Park) might be a bit snowy I guess.

Yup, Vegas to Seattle is a problem. There arent many great options without retracing your steps.

And I dont have any good suggestions either.

how long would you haev to get from Vegas to Seattle? You could go north east into Utah, then up into idaho, then over to eastern washington and back to Seattle.

But to be honest thats not a tourist route and would be pretty damn dull after awhile.

Best thing would probably be to hug the Coast road (highway one) when you go south and then on the way back take Interstate 5 (from LA, you'd have to go back to LA from lV). At oleast you wouldnt be seeing the same stuff. and I-5 through northern CA and Oregon is quite pretty.

We should have maybe 2 weeks to get from Vegas to Seattle but depends on how long we spend getting to Vegas. Utah looks pretty cool so think we'll try and aim for there and then maybe just head back through the boring areas.

Those places in Oregon look great. Will do what we can anyway. Was looking at Crater Lake but seems a load of roads and trails are closed until later in the year but be worth a visit anyway I'd say.

Have you thought about Vancouver in Canada at all?

Amazing city, much larger than Seattle. Its worth a visit and really close.
