Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bought the seeds in the shop a few weeks back, and after a bit of googling i made my own soil mixture. Planted it 3 days ago in a propagator, and noticed this morning its just broken through the soil.

Anybody else grow these fanatstic plants?

We have one we got in a garden centre a few years ago. Very happy with pink mouths and flowering for the second time. Next time it tries to flower I plan to cut the flower stalk off and use it to propogate a new plant.

How do you propagate from a flower? I've had one for a couple of years, and also a pitcher plant. They're invaluable for keeping the kitchen fly-free.

thats novel propogating from a flower do tell.

    I have one.

Very important that you water with rain water only and I leave a tray under pot to ensure water always available to the plant, and water from the bottom. likes a bit of a sunny window sill too. feed it dead flys you find to bolster it. mine had a hard winter and is down to 1 leaf but coming back i hope. In a pot of pure peat with no nutrients.

I also grow small gourds and sundews.

http://www.flytrapcare.com/propagation-of-venus-fly-traps.html It's from the flower stalk rather than the blossoms. You can propogate leaves too, but cutting the stalk before it flowers means you reduce the energy the plant has to expend and you have the bonus of maybe getting a new plant
