Shop consistently selling expired food...

    A legal "ish" question.

What should be the proper response to a shop that is consistently selling expired food. There is a convenience store near my office that regularly has stuff that is past its sell-by date.

Is the best response to raise it with the people in the shop? Or is there a regulatory body that this should be reported to?

The best legal response I can give you is don't buy the food. There is no requirement to buy it. People are responsible for the food they buy and should check the date. It's common practice. Caveat emptor.

Are the food items "Best Before" or "Use By"?

If it's just "best before" dates then there's no issue.

There is a large thread about this topic here. It was only discussed last week.
