Homemade DIY security system

Does anyone have a link to a DIY type security system I could follow and try and set up?

Ideally the system should allow a user to remotely see live video feed from a mobile phone, as well as alarming the house (windows/doors) which can be enable / disabled either remotely or in the house.

    Anything like this out there?

Are you looking for a combined system to do remote access & cover alarm & CCTV?

The best system for that would be Siemens. But its not a DIY system.

Yeah, that sounds like everything I would need. Do you have the name of the Siemens product? Do you need someone in to set it up or are there enough of provided instructions to set it up on your own?

The Siemens SPC4320 or 4321 if you want wireless.
They work with certain IP cameras however Siemens will only support Siemens cameras.
You will manage it if you have some grasp of alarms and IP.
